My brother's Pokemon Diamond game has frozen about 4 times now for no apparent reason. He says it usually freezes when he gets into a battle but once it froze when he was inside the Pokemon Centre. I happen to know that he hadn't saved the game for rather a long time last time it froze (but he had it on standby), if that has anything to do with it.
He plays on a DS Lite.

Does anyone know why this happens?

is he using cloning glitches, gameshark, or other glitches and cheats? in most games, doing stuff like that freezes the games once in a while.

No, he's not. It's really weird. I was wondering whether there was something odd going wrong with his game or if this was a common problem or what.

Like I was one of the people who purchased a Gold version and the internal battery became disconnected and it wasn't my fault. Anyway, I looked it up and it turned out it was rather a common problem and loads of other people had it too.

Probably a manufacturing defect or they found another glitch and tried to ammend it, causing another glitch. It can also be your DS. Some DS's perform better than others, but it doesn't make much of a difference. But since so many people have the problem, I'd say it's some kind of manufacturing defect.

I've just remembered something. The DS was on charge with Diamond in it when the house was struck by lightning. Well the TV stopped working at any rate. Maybe that's the answer...

I don't know if this is relevant to your problem, but I know that the DS instruction manual states that you shouldn't play your DS more than an hour or so at a time. It can easily overheat, and that causes buggy gameplay, at the very least. Maybe it got REALLY overheated. :(

That might be it... Do you have another DS that you could use for a while, to see if there may have been lightning damage done to your DS?

Yeah, I think it is the DS that's the problem. His game works fine on my DS and the power light on his DS didn't light up since it was struck by lightning, which was another problem it had. Yeah, so I think I can safely say it's the lightning's fault and that it's not the Diamond game that's damaged.
