Help with Dongle

I'm playing platinum and have got a FireRed. I've got the national dex and have made sure the FireRed is in the GBA slot when I load platinum, but I can't seem to find any of the dongle pokemon.

I can't play FireRed as it keeps saying "saved game has been deleted" after a few times of loading it. I think its when I use the DS slot but not sure. So it could be my DS as I haven't tired playing and saving on another DS.

Anyway, does it matter if the FireRed has a saved game or not to get the dongle pokemon?

Nope, it doesn't matter.

That there is a fake FireRed. It's amazing how many there are.
If you look around the forums, there are some threads with links that show the differences.
