I decided to build a team around Castform because I almost never use weather affects and I would like to see how well it works out for me. I have managed to pick out part of the team but I am a little lost on how to finish it off. I haven't picked out all the moves yet just a few egg moves I liked and I have a vague idea of the IV spread for them. Also I completely ignored natures and IVs up until X and Y so if the natures, abilities, or the Pokemon I have already picked don't go well together let me know. :)

I just realized I picked the same IV spread for all of them so I'm gonna guess I have done something just a little bit wrong maybe....

Edit: So this is now a bet between coworkers to win with the persons least used or least liked Pokemon. So the castform HAS to be apart of the team now unfortunately. But feel free to rip apart everything else! :)

I'm just gonna state the obvious and get that out of the way first. Castform is bad. Not worth using at all. Also running 2 different weathers on a team is not worth it either. I don't understand why you go for Vulpix and Snover as weather setters above their far superior evolved forms.

However if this is your very first weather related team I'd recommend going with either Sand or Rain. Both are very easy to play and learn. I'm gonna talk more about Rain since its been a really long time since I've played Sand and I know that there are people on the forum who know way more about Sand than me.

With Rain there is really two different styles you can play. You can run a VolTurn core with Thundurus and Tornadus or you can have an extremely bulky chip damage team that centers around Rocky Helmet Ferrothorn and SubToxic Gliscor/Breloom. Both are really fun to play but the VolTurn core is much easier to build around.

VolTurn as a whole is about getting in, doing a ton of damage and getting out ASAP. This is why you see Pokemon like Scizor and Meinshao and Rotom-W as a focus on a lot of these teams. Rain has the many added bonuses that make VolTurn a great option to run. The biggest 3 being that Fire's power is cut in half, Thunder and Hurricane hit 100% of the time, and Water moves get an insane power boost. VolTurn is also a great style to run as a beginner player because it is extremely easy to build and battle with since it focuses mainly on dealing high volumes of damage.

Now for the "Bulky chip damage team" the more common name is known as Stall. On this team you'd want to run something like Chansey and Espeon so that you can keep the Pokemon causing the chip damage in top condition, since a Pokemon like Ferrothorn relies on physical contact to deal its chip damage and Pokemon like SubToxic Gliscor/Breloom can take a lot of damage if you don't predict properly. A Pokemon that you'd also want to run in Rain Stall is a Mixed Bulky Dragonite so that you could clean up your opponents team that don't take well to Toxic damage like Steel or Poison types.

Oh I know castform is terrible. But the whole reason he is part of the team is because me and my coworkers made a bet to win with a Pokemon we hate or never use. Unfortunately castform is both of those for me. The pokemon I have picked are just the ones I have got the chance to breed, they will be fully evolved before they go in to battle. That was just bad info on my part sorry!

I have never been very good at doing any type of stall team so I think VolTurn is the way to go from what you've said. And I guess I will need to cut down on the amount of weather affects. The sand effect is one I have used before adn liked but I have only ever used it with flygon and was not sure how it would work out in the team.

Now if I went with the rain effect would polietod be a good choice? I chose it because of the drizzle ability. Would I be better off keeping it or just chosing a all around better pokemon that can learn rain dance?

Politoed is the best choice since it doesn't have to waste a turn setting up rain. You could always add a second Pokemon who can set up Rain Dance in case you feel that Politoed won't be enough.
