Hi Everybody,

My Grandson and friends, age 6, are mad about Pokemon.
I don't think they understand all the rules of the trading game but they collect the cards, and I think they pretend they know what they are doing, but they love the stories of the characters and pokemon.

Can anyone suggest which order I could buy the DVD's to enable them to follow the Pokemon story, from Ash and his first pokemon onwards? I bought 'Pokemon The First Story' (?correct title)and now I am totally confused which to go for next and so on.

Also does anyone know of any simple books which explain the Pokemon story/games etc.

I would be most grateful for any help in the above so thank-you in anticipation of any replies.

Here are the first two seasons of Pokémon-

Pokémon: The Indigo League
Volume 1 gives you the first 27 episodes.
Volume 2 gives you the next 30 episodes.
Volume 3 gives you the last 23.

Season two.
Pokémon: The Adventures in the Orange Islands
This season is much shorter, with only 35 episodes. These are split into volumes, but buying the box set would probably be more economical.
The box set refers to the season as "Adventures On the Orange Islands", so you may want to be aware of that.

If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for info. Have you any idea whereabouts 'The Chronicles' comes in the sequence?

1. Why has no one moved this yet?

2. I'd say that if they want the story of Ash and friends, the best way would be to just buy all the anime DVDs from the beginning and have them watch them. The order of the DVDs has to be somewhere on Bulbapedia... have a look.

3. The Pokémon books by Tracey West are actually very simple and enjoyable. Try those.

4. If your kids like Pokémon cards, use the League Locator here to find a place near you for them to learn the game and meet other people who enjoy it.

Thanks everyone - lots of good links and advice here. Thanks for your time. I will certainly look up the books recommended.

I have been writing short stories myself about the characters and their pokemon but get very confused at times as I don't play the trading game personally. However my grandson is very impressed and thinks I know more than he does. You have to be 'Super Grandma's' these days!!
