Um so i have wifi... but to connect to Platinum or Diamond i need a WEP code. my wifi has a WPA code. is there any way i can by-pass this or am i fucked?

2 ways around:
1. USE WEP
2. Buy a nintendo wifi dongle/Nintendo Wi Fi USB Connector for PC, though, if you have a mac it doesnt work.

If you happen to be able to have admin capabilities to the router, then you can change the encryption on the router to be the one that you need. Access the router by using an internet browser and then login as the admin. You should be able to change security settings somewhere. Or at least that is how it is for my router...

Unless you only use this wifi for gaming, you should NEVER change to WEP. That is extremely dangerous and can be broken into within five minutes. As of now, I don't recall any Pkmn games supporting WPA yet, so you may be fucked.

WEP is perfectly fine with one key that's very secure. I've memorized mine, though it was random. And it isn't the games' issue. DSes and DS Lites cannot support WPA; DSis can except for DS games like all Gen IV games. So in short, WEP is needed for DPPt.

As immewnity said, WEP isn't bad per-se. If someone truly wanted to tap in your system over WEP, they would have done so ages ago, and you would know.

If you really know your community well or you're like in the middle of nowhere, WEP is more than enough. Aside from working in denser communities or urban areas, I don't get what this irrational fear of using WEP is. People seem to treat it like your computer will become some sort of remote terrorist cell computer the second you enable it. Really ... ???

If you trust your surroundings well enough, the only step is to notch your security down from WPA to WEP. If you're really that concerned about security, the only other option is the USB dongle. That's all really. That or get a DSi which does support the higher security WPA immewnity mentioned. (And I think you meant WPA instead of WEP on the DS and DS lite there ^)

If you want to subvert the cost, you could just manually change the WPA to WEP temporarily whenever you go online, though going in to change your settings can be a bit of a pain, but a must if you like staying with WPA.

Fixed. And the DSi still won't work with DPPt and WPA together.
