Hey, all.

I see that new members are not a rare thing here. Typically I prefer smaller forums where I can get to know everybody, but I think it's pretty clear that that's not going to happen here, so I can't make any promises that I'll be an incredibly active member. Though I can promise not to haphazardly break the rules and get myself banned whilst annoying some administrator or other.

I created an account because I wanted to start a personal project in which I'd much better with some help from people who've had experience in the matter before. I'll start a thread for that shortly, but figured I'd make one here first to say hi.

Hey all!

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

Im interested in knowing more about your project. If you have any questions about anything here, feel free to contact any staff member. It might also be helpful to check out our New Member's Guide and the rules of the forums. I hope you have a great time here.

Hello and welcome! (:
Good luck with your upcoming project . If you need any help , feel free to ask .

Thanks folks.

I had partially created the post with my project (not to be confused with the Bulbagarden projects), mine is just a cross-game undertaking, but wanted to research it a bit more before I posted. I'm also becoming more sceptical of whether or not I should, considering it would require a working (battery not run dry) copy of Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire and E-reader (which was never released in my continent). So the only viable alternative would be emulation, but as I've read in the rules here, this isn't really encouraged talk.

In any case I kind of like forums so, even if I don't make the post I created an account to post, even if I don't post incredibly often, I'll probably at least check in every now and again.

One thing I am a little confused about is limitations on new members. My initial posts were held for review (something I assume will wear off), and despite my avatar being viewable on my profile, it isn't by my posts. I haven't tried using a signature yet. I assume these are temporary restrictions but I read the New Member's Guide, Rules, FAQ, and couldn't see anything explaining when these restrictions would be lifted? Maybe it varies on an account-to-account basis? Or maybe it's based on post count and you don't want to advertise that the newcomers should post X amount of posts as quickly as possible to get their restrictions limited.
I think, hee hee, most likely I've just missed a section somewhere.

The IRC chat seems to completely not work on my laptop, but it might be because I'm running Ubuntu. I'll look into it a bit more before I start tearing my hair out anyway.

Thanks again for the warm welcomes!

I understand that it'd be easy people to miss this in one of the many welcome threads that get created, and I don't mean to sound bitter or anything, but I was actually hoping for a reply to this please.

And thanks, Rainbow. Have no fear, I'm definitely one of those sorts of people who prefer Skittles to M&Ms. There's really no comparison.
One time, at an Eddie Rocket's, they had a special area next door where they made special milkshakes of your choice of flavour - but with a massive deli counter with all sorts of branded chocolate bars and the likes to chose from, and you could take your pick and they'd literally take some out and flavour your milkshakes with it being blended up. I had a Skittles one. It tasted like delicious madness.

Mmmrm, more or less I suppose. I was wondering if I should mention it in passing as a (strictly non-advocated, but realistic) alternative to seeking out buying a working piece from an increasingly defunct series of games and a discontinued piece of hardware from halfway across the world. It'll be possible to work around it most likely. I shall.. wing it, I guess. Most cautiously.

Forum's still big by my standards! The one I've been active on for the past six years still has, say, fifteen active members? It's nice in that you do really get to know everybody personally who may post. I'll try not to be dissuaded from posting here.

Please note: The thread is from 12 years ago.
Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
