Now that the writers strike is over, ComingSoon.net says that NBC has renewed "Heroes" for the 2008-09 season, but it looks like you won't see the show again until the fall.

NBC's Co-Chairman Ben Silverman said, "Additionally, we will be saving and re-launching our #1 drama and most successful franchise, 'Heroes,' so that it will run in all original episodes in the fourth quarter."

Not much. Not even really surprising. But...there it is. Rejoice in the confirmation of its return.

Hopefully the third season will be decent.

This is really good news. I love Heroes and it will be worth the wait to see the next season.

Hopefully the 3rd season will be 6 episodes longer...
(I still feel cheated) I have to say, though that I kind-of wish they toned it down on the killings (Though I feel cautious to say that, because that really does intensify the drama). I also hope they do something interesting with Sylar.. 'cause he still seems like he doesn't have a reason to be around.

With season three being called "Villains", it would be a horrible move not to utilize him heavily, even if they introduce new villains.

I would prefer new villains over Sylar, who feels like he's gotten incredibly stale. But the writers and cast obviously have a huge hard-on for him so fat chance of that happening. He almost feels like a villain Mary Sue.

I think depowering him was a smart move and will really prove to be a great way to breathe new life into him. They just need to give him more motivation than "me like brains".

^ I still don't get the brain thing. Does he eat them??

Oh well, yay for Heroes. Lots and lots of sexy men. Speaking of which, bring back the Haitian, please.

I think so. Unless he can somehow absorb the power some other way (cannibalism's long been tied in the belief that by eating someone else, you're absorbing part of them into you. In some cultures it's part of the funeral process, which is why it would make the right kind of sense). Certainly adds to the creepy/villain factor if he eats them.

But... at what point did he first think "mmm, I'm peckish. Hey, a brain!" And... how does he devour an entire raw human brian in one go and not throw up? And... and... gross!!!!!

Well, he was aware that there was a certain part of the brain that was responsible for the powers, thanks to Suresh's dad. So he would have known, roughly, what to look for. As for why he chose to eat it? Chalk it up to good ol' fashioned crazy, I guess. Though I'm sure I'm forgetting some detail.

The idea was yes, he eats brains. Later the writers decided that would make him too silly to take seriously, so the writers tried to deny this, despite all the constant hints and at least one witness agreeing in-story. So in a confusing turn of events, Sylar eats brains in the story, but doesn't eat brains in official materials out of the show.

For simplicity's sake, I just assume he eats brains. Since if he just studied them as the writers have tried to backstep, you would assume somebody would be finding these discarded brains near the scenes of the murders instead of them being completely gone. Not to mention that if Sylar just examined the brains, Sylar would have to logically perform brain surgery on himself to copy the brain's powers into his own, and I don't see that as being remotely possible.

Sylar needs to have a larger plan to be interesting any more. Like, something large-scale. He could even pretend to be normal for very large stretches of time. And he has illusions now, so ANYONE could be Sylar.
Hopefully the third season will be decent.
Yeah...it was mostly the writing, though. Claire's storyline was just awful, the Twins one got redundant, and Peter is still being written as dumb as bricks.

West was a bit of a creep, but at least he had a personality, so he wins over the other two characters last season who were only introduced to be love interests.

I was actually fine with the writing of the first half of the season. The feudal Japan story in particular was quite clever. Once we reached the last few eps, though, the writers started rushing, and it all went down the toilet.

Yeah, West actually grew on me. But I'd prefer to see his relationship with Claire end, if he remains in the show.

I liked that too, even though the Japanese parts were a little weird for me. To be honest, the only parts that felt rushed to me were the resolution with Adam and Sylar and the Twins. The twins, well they were okay, but they never got to do anything interesting, and that kind of bugged me.

If Scylar does get the powers of the people he killed while he was powerless, then the Maya will be even less interesting because she won't be able to fight back against him.

I guess they could make him pull something like Inuyasha and Shesshoumaru and have those powers influence him to do good things and be confused on wither he wants to do good things or bad things next season... but honestly I don't think that'd make him anymore interesting. I hope they do something, I also just hope they have a better more powerful villain too.

I just though Adam was a really interesting villain, but they got rid of him so fast. (Sure someone can easily dig him up). I wanted to see him Die or get defeated while looking like he had a real planned out and divine plan that was something a lot of people could sympathize with. With him being rash and crazy trying to beg people to side with him again, making the audience feel sad for him at the same time. Like the Anime...
Deathnote

Even thought it's highly doubtful, I seriously hope the Cast of Heroes (the good guys not the whole show) can organize themselves into working together better.

I'm assuming Sylar can now use Candice's power. Seeing as he has it in Five Years Later.

And come on. Season two wasn't all that bad.

By the way, if you haven't yet read the graphic novel from Season 1, you should. The library by my house got the collection and it is awesome, to say the least.
