I'm...shocked no one's already made this thread. Maybe I'm the only one that saw the first two episodes. Or maybe I'm the only one who still likes it.

Personally, the first two episodes were...eh. There were parts I liked and parts I hated.

Liked:
1. Future Peter as part of the regular cast. Should provide an interesting perspective.
2. Peter and Nathan's mother having her power revealed and Elle's father's power being revealed.
3. We have villains!! And they're like classic comic supervillains...except that they carpool. And one's a pyrokinetic. I love pyrokinetic villains.
4. Elle finally cut loose. No more simple lightning bolts. We got ACTUAL power from her.
5. Nathan's...friend. I'm very curious as to where that's going.
6. "Niki" being back. No one else seemed to like her, but I saw great potential for that character, and it seems they're going to deliver.

Disliked
1. The world exploding image being everywhere. It was a little...stupid. When Doctor Who had "Bad Wolf" everywhere, it made sense. Two random words showing up in random places is coincidence. But the EXACT SAME IMAGE in two different places? C'mon. That just seemed hokey.
2. ANOTHER person who can paint the future? Did we really need ANOTHER one (though, hey, he's fun)?
3. From the people who brought you "The Haitian" comes..."The German." How long before we get the "Czech Republican?"
4. Future Peter as the shooter. Just...eh. I'd like a season that ISN'T propelled by something happening in the future.
5. Sylar as a possible brother to Nathan and Peter. Just...too Darth Vader-ish.
6. Suresh as horny Spider-Man.
7. The humans getting powers. Suresh being mutated means he loses his outside observer status, and sort of ruins him as the narrator. Ando (potentially) getting powers ruins him as a sidekick.

All told...it wasn't the great start I was hoping for. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. Hopefully, things will improve, though.

Elle's father's power was already revealed. That was just Sylar gloating. Other then that, yeah. Exactly what you said. Also, I was a big Veronica Mars fan, so having Capra and Bell on the same show is a huge plus for me.

That was my take on it as well.

A bit of c/p from SPP:

Angela Petrelli's power makes sense, she always seemed to know what would happen beforehand.

BTW, which of the level 5 guys was the one with the blue power emitting from his hands? That had me confused a bit.

Also, if Peter has an ability that allows him to stick someone in someone else's body then we should look out for another person with that ability. He had to get it from somewhere.

Sylar should just go after Peter. Then he'd have the power to gain powers just by being around someone. Then he wouldn't have to worry about killing anyone. Though he probably would do so anyways out of habit and/or for fun.

And yeah, Elle's dad turned a spoon to gold last season. Easy for me to remember since I watched the entire season on Friday. XD

I like that Ando gets powers, it gives him some insurance as a character that he won't just be used to grow Hiro's character. (Through things like being held hostage, or being killed)

Suresh getting powers seems to go with his themes in "Getting over your head". Basically he created another formula so even if Hiro saves the other half of the formula the villains can still get their hands on it. Also with the potential of the Chemical completely backfiring on him, he can turn into some kind of super villain.

Elle's dad being killed so quickly is kind of lame. He wasn't that interesting as a character, but that's because we didn't really have a perspective on him. I was kind of hoping he'd change into the mad dictator type and shock people as he dominates.

The whole future Peter's reasonings for shooting Nathan felt too much like x-men. They basically turned him into Bishop. Maybe it was more of a homage, but the heroes being oppressed by being outed by the public kind of lost something for me. I'm not sure why, but right now it just doesn't feel as appropriate (Maybe it's because the powers can be viewed as chemical or something else).

I do like that Clair has new objectives, it's kind of disturbing in an unobvious way. Basically they made her goal: getting her sense of feelings back, meaning that she needs to get her powers back, meaning she may have to kill Sylar and rip his head open to do it. With current attempts to make Sylar an anti-hero (which we know has some things Angela isn't revealing yet since she saw that Cyrus lead the villains in the future) can push Clair into a psycho villain. That's kind of disturbing, but makes an interesting plot point in my book. Then with Sylar saying that he can't kill her points out two things: A) chopping off her head may only put her in a sleeping state rather than killing her, and B) the origins of her powers may differ from others. It also points out that Sylar doesn't have all of her powers either, meaning he still has weaknesses.

To me this reveals that even if she obtains her goal of getting her feelings back, she may still be perverted in a negative direction to a new goal applied to this.

Personally, I want to see her as a kick-ass Samurai or Kunoichi and split a person in half (down the middle) kill bill style. Maybe have a gun as well and blow holes through people... but as much as they already get away with (Seriously, who ever they bribe for the TV-14 rating is amazing, probably the most violent TV-14 show out there) they probably won't be able to get away with that.

As for Nikki, I too am happy of her return. I still like her, even if they don't always have her do interesting things, she always seems like la femme fatal. I don't really like that every split personality gets new powers, however, because to me that seems like she has unlimited potential of powers. Basically another Peter or Sylar character... I realize that they may be trying to make each character have an unlimited potential, but it just feels over the top currently.

I also find it funny how much they seem to bring up Adam in the premier show, it's almost like they plan to bring him back. I don't mind that, however, because his character was never fleshed out beyond "Crazy whinny bitch", and I think he has potential to be like Magneto.

All-in all I liked the premier... though admittedly not as much as some of the others in the past. Still, I love the show enough to rush home and see it each time.

[edit]oh yeah, and I like the speedster character so far. Also, Hiro's 2D sense of justice is starting to get irritating, even though it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

It was incredible. I was pretty happy with last night's premiere (I was busy in IRC, however, so I intend to rewatch it later on the DVR in our living room when I can pick up all the little details.) My initial impressions:

-They're really playing up Nikki as a slut this season. Really playing it up.
-Nathan's new turn is... interesting, and his newfound religion is probably going to make him an even bigger douchebag than before. I didn't think that was possible.
-Angela is the same Angela I've known and loved- a coldhearted BITCH- and the return of Linderman to the show makes this AngelaxLinderman shipper full of squee and happy.
-Badass Claire pwns the socks, but I'm disappointed at how emo Claire is now. Come on you guys.
-ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE ELLE that is all.
-Daphne's cool too. An interesting, fun female character and could make a neat love interest for Hiro (I started shipping them as soon as I saw her first scene). I know she's going to be passed off as a Flash ripoff, but fuck that. She's a lot cuter and perkier and just everything Claire was before becoming the biggest emo Mary Sue on the show.
- Level 5 is nicely foreboding.
- Sylar's back to his menacing psycho self. And that scene where Noah unloaded the cartridge into him and then watched in horror as Sylar healed... CHILLING. That's all I can say. And I'm looking forward to more of Sylar in all his wacked out glory.

Elle's father's power was already revealed.

I thought it had...but I thought I might have just been imagining that...

I'm just wondering HOW he did it. Did he fuse them? Did he remove Peter's psyche and place it in that guy's mind (if so, where's Peter's body?)?

That's actually how I prefer him. It gives him a unique role and allows him to get into danger in fairly believable ways with it not always being certain how he'll get out. But that's just me.

The whole future Peter's reasonings for shooting Nathan felt too much like x-men.

That's EXACTLY what I thought. That entire future he came from was a little too "Days of Future Past" for my comfort (he's like Phoenix/Rachel Summers, only instead of SAVING a senator, he came to the past to KILL a senator).

Don't we know from Five Years Gone Ando is doomed anyway? Or did How to Stop an Exploding Man nerf all that? (Although in light of FYG, I think Ando's death may have been foreshadowing, now that we know he's powered, as well as shedding a little more light on why Hiro's so militantly protective.)

Either way, it looks like Nathan's presidential aspirations are coming into fruition with Linderman in the picture again. And it'll definitely be interesting to see how things go this season. Already Lindy's got the gears turning for Senator Petrelli...

How many futures have we seen now? 4 or 5? It's starting to loose it's effect. Like Watching Dragonball Z and seeing your favorite character get killed, you'll only blow it off and say "Oh, well, they'll be wished back"

I mean, we can get even more complex and say that because Angela can see the future, she has the same influence on the world as Peter and Hiro, so her telling Future Peter that what he is doing is making it worse, may have in-fact changed the future again! lol

Well, with alternate futures, the fun is that none of them count as THE future until they actually happen. We could be shown a million and not a one of them could be THE future. Just because it's A future doesn't mean it's THE future. Thus, the fun of sci-fi/comics. You can have a character come from the future a thousand times and have it be a unique alternate counterpart each time. The headaches these make, though...

I like the start this season is getting off to so far. I think future Peter adds a nice element to the story. His attempts to prevent future A from coming into existence seems like it will be the catalyst for most of the big events that will take place this season.

I agree with GrnMarvl that Spidy Suresh, kills his standpoint as observer, which was part of what made his character. On the other hand, they might be able to pull something off with his mutation, and possible realization that making the serum was a really bad idea.

Daphne is a very clever idea for a nemesis for Hiro, though, she is pretty much screwed once Hiro is able to stop time completely, assuming his ability is developed later in the season. I am very curious to see who hired her, as well as who holds the other half of that formula.

I like the element of Hiro having seen (what looks like) his death at the hands of Ando. I think that perhaps the scene Hiro saw was not as it appeared, or perhaps the end result of this new seed of distrust for Ando.

I felt bad for Matt after being teleported away by Future Peter. I suppose this new future painter is there as a plot device so Matt learns of the events that have, and may possibly take place.

Sylar possibly being the third Petrelli brother, while a bit cliched, does seem to fit the story well. I bet Elle will be out to get him, as well as possibly overthrow Angela.

It looks like Nathan is in for another rough ride this season. Though that is pretty much par for the course. I wonder if Linderman's ghost is actually Linderman stuck in a "phased state" due to D.L.'s powers.

Villains, while not much of them was seen in this episode, I have a feeling these guys will be awesome.

I really don't like the "You have to have powers to be a main character and if you don't you get them eventually or get killed" thing they're doing.

They're really playing up Nikki as a slut this season. Really playing it up.
She started the show as a slut, they just brought that fact back after not mentioning it in season 2.

Oh, I know she wasn't very slutty in Volume 2... but really. It's like EVERY SCENE they wanted to remind you "by the way, Nikki is a slut!" just in case we forgot.

I know Claire is Heroes mini-Wolverine, but the nigh-immortal thing just eats the cake (they can't take the cake; I refuse it so). And something about that irks me.

1. The world exploding image being everywhere. It was a little...stupid. When Doctor Who had "Bad Wolf" everywhere, it made sense. Two random words showing up in random places is coincidence. But the EXACT SAME IMAGE in two different places? C'mon. That just seemed hokey.

7. The humans getting powers. Suresh being mutated means he loses his outside observer status, and sort of ruins him as the narrator. Ando (potentially) getting powers ruins him as a sidekick.

If "The African" had a hand in the drawings as his silence implied, it is less like Bad Wolf, since it's not Claire (or Daphne; British blonde irony~) whose putting them up all over the place by cosmic interference from the heart of a TARDIS. The bit that they both show up around Suresh and Matt (besides making me squeal with glee just now) might...hell, indicate to Molly (who'll come back older or changed somehow; ala Losteffect)? Though if it shows up around anyone else, that theory's nixed.

Now Suresh having powers, I agree it was not a brilliant mark of his intelligence (because of all people, he should have KNOWN BETTER), but what might be happening to him is definitely the consequences of his actions, and he's already paying for his "horny Spiderman" act.

Now Ando getting powers...is frickin' awesome (it's RED!). They fact that he's shown to be killing Hiro, however, would there imply he's gone from Robin to Nightwing, y'know? By the time that comes to pass (which it might, which might not kill Hiro really because his powers might have some...backlog we don't know about, which might be a ruse/red herring/ploy between the two) Ando might not be a sidekick anymore, possibly due to the distrust Hiro's showing in the present because of what he saw. Bloody paradox.

Only because every time she says that, future!Peter goes out to correct things that never happened, thus altering the current progression of the future YET AGAIN.

He's doing double the harm.

Me, too. But as long as she still has a personality, I'll be happy.

Didn't think about that. That's actually a good point (but it doesn't COMPLETELY take away my dislike of the images being in two different continents).

I'm not so much upset about HIM doing it, as I am the writers having him do it. In the context of the story, it sort of makes sense (he needed a test subject, and there's a LONG fictional list of characters who have experimented on themselves). I just feel it could have been done by another character (who? I honestly don't know. It's probably just me really liking his character and not wanting it to change).

They fact that he's shown to be killing Hiro, however, would there imply he's gone from Robin to Nightwing, y'know?

Isn't it more of a Jason Todd move (minus the explosion)?

True, and I'm more than willing to wait things out and see how they go. In the context of that one episode, I didn't like it. I'm more than willing to change my opinion if there's a logical progression to that point (or some similar point) that I like. It just seems...cliched almost, when shown like that, out of any sort of real context.

I would have really preferred if a new non-powered character had developed the super-serum and used it on himself, they could have taken that in a lot more directions than "Noah is the only one who can be on the show and not have superpowers".

I've gotta say...I don't have many complaints about tonight's episode. I liked it. It moved in the right direction and made Sylar interesting again. Plus...fun with the Haitian.

My only complaint:

They killed off two of the villians. For a season called "Villians"...they're running out of them awfully quickly.

Anyone else notice the clever Pokemon reference in tonight's episode?

Daphne called Hiro Pikachu.
