The television networks are announcing their fall schedules all this week. The first one out of the gate is fourth-place NBC, which announced a spin-off for their popular show Heroes:

To stretch the normal 22-episode season of “Heroes,” which faltered after its long hiatus this year, NBC will add “Heroes: Origins.” The spin-off will introduce a new character each week, and viewers will select which one stays for the following season. The two series will have 30 new episodes combined.

They will also add three “supernatural” shows to their line-up:

–Bionic Woman, a remake of the 1970s spin-off of the Six Million Dollar Man, with Michelle Ryan in the title role.
–Journeyman, which is about “a San Francisco newspaper reporter who travels through time to alter people’s lives.”
–Chuck. “a thriller about a computer geek who becomes a government agent after spy secrets are embedded in his brain.”

Crossing Jordan and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, not surprisingly, were both given the axe, while Friday Night Lights will move to Friday nights, so it can get the axe early next fall.

For more information, check out TV Squad’s coverage. ABC will unveil their schedule tomorrow, followed by CBS on Wednesday. Fox and The CW will announce their line-ups on Thursday.

A Heroes spinoff where people vote on which of the new Heroes stays? Sounds...too gimmicky to me, but...maybe we'll get some good stories out of it.

American Idol for geeks more or less.

Is it bad I can actually see myself voting for this? Because if they come up with a new one as badass and hot as Peter...

American Idol for superheroes is incredibly retarded, and has already been done. -_-;; Way to cause the series to jump the shark already, guys. It sounds like this was a concept for a spinoff comic book they're forcing into television production.

Sweet Fat Mama!?

I haven't even got a chance to watch the show and already it's jumping the shark right when I was gonna start?

Would someone tell me why this is jumping the shark? Only the voting part is irritating, but I'll never bother to vote anyway. As I understand it, it's a collection of one-shots featuring a person discovering their power in each, or something like that. With one of them eventually being included in the storyline.

Yeah, if the heroes audience is like myself, then they are probably not the type to want to vote for a TV show... especially not if it cost money.

All in all, I'll give it a chance, but I have a big feeling of major suckage and ruining of Heroes.

I hope one of the heroes is a Giantess (doubtful, as that'd require to much special effects) or a gender-bender hero, cuz those are the coolest heroes.

A gender bender would be cool. How about a Speedster like Flash? He is awesome.

I guess... in a forming the X-MEN, sort of way it'd be cool... It just shouldn't be done every summer after Heroes...

Also, A speedster would be cool :D

I like this idea...although If I was in America I would proberly vote for the one I found the most annoying so I could get them into the show to be killed...
