Part loving tribute to the Super Mario Bros. catoons of yore, part adventure story, and part comedy with a dash of gentle parody of the Super Mario Bros. universe, the New Super Mario Bros. Super Show is my attempt at writing out an imagined and detailed episode guide if a Mario cartoon existed based on New Super Mario Bros. Wii. (with parts of New Super Mario Bros. DS, Super Mario Land, Paper Mario 64, and both Super Mario Galaxy games added in)

Differences between the old and the new

--No more live action segements--NSMBSS is completely animated

--The party is slightly different--in addition to Mario and Luigi, Princess Daisy joins the two Toads on the adventure (the yellow one is Fice T. from Paper Mario 64, the blue one is a new Toad created for the show named Craft T.)

--The main storyline episodes are broken up by "Super Mario Quickies"--Mario themed shorts that can be everything from fan animated Mario tributes to other humorous cartoons starring the main party--no other franchises this time.

--The Koopalings are named their official names. (so there's Iggy and Wendy instead of Cheatsy and Kootie Pie)

--Bowser doesn't make too many appearances this time around--he actually leaves Bowser Jr. in charge (with often disastrous results)

What you won't see in the show

--Mario is not as food obssessed, this also means no "pasta power" references. But don't worry, there are other "powers" he taps into...

--Luigi is not as big a fraidy cat as before--Fice T. mainly takes that role in NSMBSS. He can, however, be swayed by Fice T.'s hyperactive imagination, but one whack from Daisy brings both of them back to reality.

--The rap theme song is gone, and replaced with a song that somewhat sounds like a mix of the DS and Wii's overworld. You'll still be able to "Do the Mario", though, but the Mario's been updated for a new generation.

--Most of the humor is derived from gently parodying the Mario-verse, but there's still some groaners and slapstick

Show Format

NSMBSS is set up like this:

Main Story (part 1)-The first part of the main story for the episode
Super Mario Quickie
Super Mario Quickie
Main Story (part 2)-The second half of the main story
Super Mario Quickie
End credits

While most of the main story can be told in two parts--some climatic parts may need three, four, or sometimes more to tell the story (a main story with more than four parts is rare)

The main story is this:

Rather than Mario and Luigi seeking to return to our world, our favorite Bros. learn that Peach has been snatched--again--on the eve of a grand gala celebrating the alliance between the Mushroom Kingdom and Sarasaland. Alongside Princess Daisy, her Toad companion Craft T., and reluctant guard Fice T, they'll travel across many fantastic worlds to defeat Bowser and bring Peach safely home for the party of the century.

But Bowser had a reason to swipe Peach for the billionth time--he'd learned of the Grand Diamond Star--the largest and biggest Power Star ever discovered to date. So while he and his minions grill Peach on the Diamond Star's location, he puts Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings in charge of the troops to see to it the party doesn't get to Koopa's Keep.

Can the party save Peach (again) and protect the Grand Diamond Star?

Character Profile: Meet Daisy

Energetic and cheerful, Daisy's no-nonsense, take charge attitude have made her well known and well liked in her homeland of Sarasaland. Underneath the tomboy exterior, she is a caring and friendly person, even if that means occassionally knocking some sense into the person. (Fice T. is her most common target)

She's also been rescued herself--Mario rescued her when the enigma known as Tatanga invaded Sarasaland. She deeply respects Mario because of this, and uses the journey to save Peach as a chance for her to return the favor to him. (in Sarasaland, it is said that if you help someone, they are encouraged to return the favor if you need help) Her gung-ho attitude and spirit of adventure keep the party's morale high, and she isn't afraid to fight herself if she or her friends are in danger. She does have a tiny crush on Luigi, but would never admit it to anyone

Character profile: Meet Craft T.

Who is she?: An intelligent and caring Toad with a fondess for making and fixing things, be this cake or a complex contraption (most of which end up not working) Although not all of her inventions work, her expertise with how things work prove valuable for getting Daisy, Fice T., and the Bros. out of a bind when they need it most.

Daisy doesn't mind critiquing her creations--but she does ask that Craft T. give the demonstration inside a part of Sarasa Caverns that goes inside the castle--the cave in question is home to Craft T.'s workshop and testing room. A few of her inventions--the Propellor Suit, the Tiny Mushroom, the Mega Mushroom, and the Penguin Suit--actually prove vital on the long journey.

Job: Sarasaland royal tinker

Some of her notable inventions:

The Power Sled 3000 (that met its unfortunate demise against a rock--but not before plowing through the Ice Fortress' front gates)

Penguin Suit

Springy Shoes (these worked a little TOO well--the rest of the party spent the rest of the day looking for Luigi--fortunately, he was safe and sound with a tribe of Yoshis)

Tiny Mushroom (part of an experiment to make a mushroom that would safely cause a being to grow smaller)

Mega Mushroom (accidentally created when she used a little too much fertilizer on some Super Mushrooms)

Character profile: Meet Tashi

Tashi is Daisy's faithful yellow Yoshi, given to her as a gift from Peach. Her keen nose and sharp eyes allow her to sense things a normal person can't see or smell. If the party needs to get somewhere quickly or outrun Bowser and his minions, Tashi and her fellow Yoshis will be more than happy to get the job done.

While the party initially starts with just Tashi as a mount, as they travel, they find other Yoshis trapped in eggs--and Tashi is determined to free all of her friends, and if the party can defeat Bowser along the way, she finds that even better.
