Hello all
Just thought I'd introduce myself
I'm a mature player of Pokemon by most standards (altough I'm sure there's alot in the same boat). I started playing red when I was 13 in the height of the gen 1 games. I then upgraded to Gold, where I was the king of the playground, battling and trading my way to glory :unworthy: .
I stopped playing Pokemon when I was 16, moving into the usual activities teenage boys do, such as chasing women and playing tons of sport and just generally trying to "be cool". Pokemon was NOT part of such recipes for "coolness".
Years later and the social pressures and teen angst that school gifts to all of us have faded. And so I was given a DS for christmas last year and have been playing Diamond ever since.
Initially I felt guilty- this IS on face value a kids game. But then I took a step back from the situation and weighed up everything, coming to a couple of conclusions.
1. I don't need to give a damn about what everyone else thinks anymore. I'm 23 ffs and I'll do what I want within reason.
2. When you eliminte the cute factor these games have they're actually quite intelligent, sophisticated games and the people who do enjoy gaming but steer clear of Pokemon because it's "not cool" really are missing out on a great gaming experience.
I'm what you'd call an athlete within my sport, am employed as a carpenter, pulling in steady money and am still attractive to the opposite sex. Life is sweeter then ever!
So I guess the moral of my story is that I realised that those who don't care what society thinks of them are the freeist people IN society.
So an intro to my Diamond game.
-Pokedex- Seen 387 and Obtained 352
-Have defeated Elite four million times
-legit Lv100's are Arceus, Dialga, Bibarel, Azelf, Empoleon, Giratina, Heatran, Kricktune, Luxray, Mesprit and Staraptor
-Current party is made up of Garchomp, Cresselia, Ampharos, Breloom, Aerodactyl and Wailord
-My battle style is very simple- I choose moves that deal big damage with the odd status problem thrown in there. This leaves me open to battle styles which favour status changes and "chipping away at the foe". I could get more tacticle but really don't have the patience tbh.
So why am I here? Well I look at bulbapedia alot when I'm playing the game for starters. Also I'm interested in meeting people for the sole purpose of trading pokemon to complete my Pokedex. Speaking of which, what is the process everyone on here goes through to get to the point where you're actually watching your pokemon being traded? A genuine question from someone who knows nothing
Anyway thanx for reading and that was me, La Trobe
