HG/SS Advice Column

I decided to make a thread where you can receive/ask for advice regarding anything HGSS related. Not the same as the Simple Questions/Answers as these are mostly opinion related.

Here's my question:
I've got an Exeggutor that I'm planning on using in my main team. It's got a Quiet nature, and I've been EV training it in Sp. Atk. I want to train it in either Defense or Sp. Def next, but can't decide which. Here are it's current stats:

Level 23 (just evolved it)
HP: 78
Atk: 53
Defense: 46
Sp. Atk: 86
Sp. Def: 41
Speed: 33

Your advice?

Sp.Def since it's lower than it's Def...you know you could have looked it up here: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Exeggutor_(Pokémon)#Stats

You're playing a game where the goal is to catch ALL the Pokemon, so whether you should get another Water type is all up to you. Just because you have two of the same type shouldn't matter, as you have the PC to hold all the Pokemon in. etc etc.

If you're going up against the Elite 4 definitely NO, you want to have as many type advantages as possible. If you're still going up against gym's, all I can say is: if it will benefit your team, do it otherwise I see no point in it.

I wouldn't double up on types if I were you. You need as many advantages as possible.​
