HG/SS GTS?

For me, the GTS is one of the most important additions to the Pokemon franchises since the day/night system. Oh, and color. <.<
I've been wondering if there will be a Global Trade System in HG/SS. So far I haven't seen any footage of one, and I've always said if Google can't find it, it doesn't exist yet.

Now, I'm not one to make a single paragraph speculation thread with no thought or evidence behind it, so let's analyze both sides.

It's Likely Because...

~It was a huge step up for the series and a major advancement. Similarly, it'd be a large step backwards in functionality for it not to be included. It makes sense that they'd keep such an important feature with the game, rather than taking it away.

~People have become attached to the feature and may expect it at this point. They seem to be listening to the fans to a degree, what with the 'Pokemon-Follow-You' feature, or are at least conscious as to what the happy fans will want from the game.

~There are like, 400 of the things, you can't expect me to catch them all myself. Come on now.

On The Other Hand...

~ Nintendo would have to use twice as much in the way of resources to keep the service going for HG/SS simultaneously with D/P/Pt. Ish. I don't have numbers, but if one assumes the games sell well, which they will, you now have 5 games to GTS support instead of 3. That info has to go somewhere, and someone named Nintendo has to pay for it.

~The feature wasn't in the originals. Before you blow this bit off, remember that there wasn't a day/night cycle in FR/LG (I didn't play those but that's what a friend of mine reported.), which was true to the originals it was a remake of.

~ They could be returning with the Time Capsule feature, since chronologically HG/SS would come before D/P/Pt anyway. If this is the case, the expectation would be for you to use the GTS in D/P/Pt and then trade them over to HG/SS, where you would be receiving the HM-less trade from a 'time capsule' similar to how it worked between R/B/Y and G/S/C. What motivation would they have for this? Less coding perhaps. Or, more likely, that you'd then have to buy D/P/Pt along with HG/SS to get everything you want. We all know they like money, and a favorite way of getting it is making you buy multiple versions of a game. That's why there are always three, after all.

So yeah. I REALLY hope the GTS makes a return. It's made my life a helluva lot easier. Plus, it feels really good to be sending a little piece of your hard work across the world, trading and connecting with people internationally.
I don't see any site with information regarding this feature, but I'm on the lookout for it. If Nintendo/Gamefreak/Whoever wants to score some brownie points, this would be the way to go. Hint hint.

So now the part where I open it up to debate.
Based on this information and your own (which I have undoubtedly missed), do you think there will be a GTS? Do you personally like the system and hope it will return (as I assume there is someone crazy out there that absolutely hates it and respect that person's opinion)? What features could they add to it to make it better?

Oh my God...

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Nothing that fans have doubted has been confirmed not to be in these games. Red Gyarados was even confirmed already. There is no reason to believe GTS won't be in.

Edit:
...For some reason this response worries me deeply.
Should I put up my anti-flame barrier now, or later?

It's OK, you're new. But you have no idea what it's like to see so many threads like this.:p

I think it's likely that they'll have it. It's basically assumed at this point, it's such a major addition to the series. It's an important addition to the games, it would be a major step down without it. I don't think that the gameplay argument for it not being in has any weight either. The Japanese version of Crystal had the exact same thing as the GTS through cell phones, and they could always keep it blocked off until a certain point.

You think nintendo is worried about money?

truer words were never spoken.

What are you talking about? Since DPPt and HGSS will be compatible, it is natural to think they'll share the same GTS system. The internal game data structure is the same, so it doesn't need a different GTS. Removing it is like removing genders.

Anyways, welcome to the forums =)

I think he's talking about server capacity. 5 games need more than 3

Oh... I didn't se eit form that perspective. Thanks for correcting me. Cheers!

EDIT: w00t, post #911!

Terrorist!!!!!

I don't think that a few more games would add to the server issues that much. I mean, many of the HGSS sales would go to people who already own DPPt and who already cause server strain. I don't think that HGSS would suddenly cause thousands and millions of new people with Wi-fi to start using GTS. Probably a small number of new users.

when there is a will there is a way lol. But i think nintendo would not let us down. unless i'm wrong. the GTS is most likely be in all future games. But think about if the GTS just crashed. Pokémon meltdown. i think it may be like this if you get what i mean :spam:

You have a point, to a degree. But worst-case scenarios always come into play. The easiest thing to do is to take out the GTS. They obviously won't do that. So, the next-easiest thing is to get more servers.

Honestly, how many servers does it require? Each Pokémon is a negligible amount of data, it's probably under half a kilobyte per Pokémon.

GTS will be there. We don't know where, but it'll be there just like everything else.

This games are being hyped to hell and are highly anticipated...why the heck wouldn't they not have one of most important features added to the franchise..?

I do hope they have it, and I really can't see why they won't. But will I and millions of other people still buy it if it doesn't? Yes!! :)

I didn't know this was a common concern around here.
I used the search feature but it didn't pull anything up, so I assumed it was a fresh thread topic. I apologize.

It's encouraging to hear that the GTS will almost certainly be making a return though. It is quite convienient a feature.

Hey, you're doing pretty good, actually. We've got at least three threads asking about Red because the OP's couldn't be bothered to check on existing threads before making a new one.

Not exactly. Crystal had a sort of precursor to the GTS, but only in the Japanese version. It was called the Pokémon Communication Center, and it utilized the Game Boy Color Mobile Adapter.

Correction, HGSS begins just slightly before DPPt, but for the most part, both stories take place at roughly the same time.

But I wouldn't be surprised if the Time Capsule returned as a replacement for the Pal Park.
