"GameStop Exec Talks Holiday Releases
Games retailer expects Bioshock 2, Assassin's Creed 2, and a couple mystery Nintendo titles this winter.
By Dustin Quillen, 05/22/2009

The 2009 holiday season might be a bit more jam-packed than you may have already expected, according to GameStop CFO David W. Carlson (via Eurogamer). During the brick-and-mortar gaming retailer's Q1 earnings call, the GameStop executive predicted October releases for Bioshock 2 and Tekken 6, followed by the November debuts of Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, and "a couple of Nintendo titles that have not been announced."
Whether or not Carlson has any actual insight into the development schedules of these games is uncertain. Even if he's merely speculating on these release dates, you have to wonder what kind of unannounced goodies he's expecting from Nintendo later this year. E3 just can't come soon enough, eh?"

what do you think?(and i just copied and pasted. i didnt change anyhting)

If the HGSS are to be released in Japan this fall, doesn't it take time to translate the games into English and that could make a delay? Might explain why the game titles were trademarked in America as fast as they were, right? Just have to wait and see I guess.

I think Nintendo might be doing their other titles. They're supposed to have other games coming out. I'd like to see them showcase HG/SS, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'd like to think there are enough people employeed to translate quicker than the current periods. Fair enough that it takes time for America as it is the first using English but why another few months for Europe, and mainly me in Northern Ireland. I'm not fussed on colour over color for the sake of a few months more wait.

maybe they were translating them already? the trademarks were in the system pretty quick and it seems like NoA is working prety closely with NoJ. i think as the games are being made thay are translating them, just so they dont take time. some might say the games aren't gonna come out this year because platinum did but platinum is a third game and these are remakes. both of them arent a new gen. so what would be the problem??

They may have already started translating. Not getting my hopes up, as there are a ton of other possibilities the "mystery games" could be, but it would be really nice if this did turn out to be HGSS. :D

THANK YOU. :p

I've been saying for a while, a holiday release makes the most sense financially by far, and there's not really any factor but the financial one that matters. These games have a decent amount of text, but it's at middle-school reading level at the mot, and there's no voice-acting to worry about, and I imagine Nintendo could easily conjure up enough translation staff to have a rough drat in a matter of days if they wanted to. And since the DS isn't region-locked, I'd imagine the programming requires only minimal change.

I can't imagine too much else Nintendo might have up their sleeve - Zelda : Spirit Tracks and/or Pikmin 3 could be out in the U.S. in time for the holidays, but there's less information on their releases than there even is for HGSS, as far as I've seen.

Lol. Highly unlikely. Mystery Nintendo game can mean anything! Nintendo has a huge library of titles and another thing is Platinum was just released this Spring in NAmerica. I think they'd want Platinum to run its course so to say before they release another Pokemon RPG....

Platinum is a 3rd-version game - its "course" had already been run by Diamond and Pearl before it even came out.

Pikmin 3, Spirit Tracks.

...are both about as developed as HGSS.

Seriously, why all the deep cynicism from most people? We don;t know, so we might as well be hopeful for the sooner date. If it doesn't happen, oh well, but there's no harm in being optimistic and looking at all the possibilities instead of completely dismissing it out of hand. :|

I am going to throw down the trademark card and remind you all the game whenever they want they can announce it. Its up and fully trademarked for the states. So this could be with a holiday release if they really want to. Of course I am not saying its translated and all but the game to get trademarked in the states means that Nintendo knew about this for months as you would need to file the application months ahead instead of just the day before and pop you have a trademark. Sure it could be Pikmin 3 and Spirit Tracks but hell its a smart move.

I really want Pokemon Mystery Dungeon explorers of the sky game get an english release date. I'm getting too impatient for that one.>=(

For nintendo's mystery game I have a feeling it has not much to do with Pokemon and maybe even something we still don't know about. I could guess Zelda or some new IP or something. Who knows.

Well there we have a problem. We forgot about Mystery dungeon. If its out in october november Nintenjerks might and a big might delay it a couple of months.

Either way, let's not forget that HGSS won't take as long to translate as Gen V will, since HGSS uses GS's script as much as FRLG used RG's (which was very slightly altered to JpB, and then translated to USRB).

True true. Just some lines in for the stuff like what soul will say when you meet her and such. Unless there is more and we do not know. But yeah a holiday release is now doubtful for me as we totally forgot about dungeon. Damn you spin off!

But there was still an 8 month gap between the japanese and american releases of FRLG, wasnt there?
