I've been a Pokemon fan since the old GBC games came out. The most recent game I have is fire red which brung back some good memories of my childhood, but I'm wondering if I should buy Platinum.

The whole idea of WiFi and connecting to the internet to battle sounds amazing..you just can't find any local neighbors to fight with these days and they would always get tired after you kicked their ass a few times :p

Also have a few questions..

Do you think the gen. 4 games are the best out yet?

How do you connect to the WiFi in the gameboy?

I watched some videos on the whole PokeRadar thing to find shiny's/rares easier, but the videos seemed like it was so hard to tell which grass shakes..Is it easy to tell?

Which starter should I choose? I was thinking grass, but bleh, idk.

Excuse my noobiness, I'm new here

Get Platinum.

All three are good, but Platinum, like most 3rd-version games, has the most "complete" storyline, and unlike other 3rd-version games, it makes significant improvements to the originals in the amount of Pokémon available, the Wi-Fi functionality, and the difficulty of the opponents.

I'd also consider getting Emerald, if I were you, because the Battle Frontier there is more expansive than Platinum's, and the third-gen Hoenn games are still pretty good. But if you do Platinum first, Emerald's graphics and gameplay will seem a bit lacking, so if you do decide to get Emerald, you should probably do it before Platinum. But if you're just looking for one, Platinum is without a doubt the prime example of the series at this point.

And as for shinies, there's a very good thread on them in this subforum, usually on the first page, and in the first post there's a link to a page by Totoro that summarizes the whole procedure very well. :)

Welcome to 1998. We don't have Game Boys anymore. We have DSes.

Don't have one, you can't play Pt. It's a good investment anyway, since there's other great games it has.

Platinum is awesome. I agree, get it if you can! You'll need a DS as well. Sorry, WiFi doesn't work on Game Boys.

To choose a starter is a personal choice. Pick whichever one appeals to you most. ^^
