Well, I'm not that old, maybe too old to feel any enjoyment towards the anime shows and movies. Pokemon seems like the kind of game that is geared and marketed towards youngsters, but is actually played by a plethora of age groups. So I don't feel that out of place! Actually, I'm coming from years of playing RPGs, the Dragon Quest series being my favorite. Pokémon seems to blow Dragon Quest Monsters out of the water, and was really complicated to understand at first, but now that I have the hang of it I'm really enjoying breeding and putting together competitive teams.

That sub-form does seem helpful! My strategy so far as a newbie is to completely copy a team that has won a regional and just practice with it until I get the hang of the vast amount of gameplay mechanics involved in Pokemon. I do have a little hesitation going up against random grizzled veterans online because, frankly, I still kinda suck at choosing the best next move, there's just so many variables! Over time I'll get the hang of it, I hope lol.
