Hidaka and "eye candy"...

I think people in here is way too much respected to the so called "Masamitsu Hidaka interview":

1- I think there would be a misunderstanding about translation or "eye candy" thing.
2- There is no real indication that he is really serious about things he says so...
3- He's just one of them. His view can't attribute to all of Pokemon anime makers...
4- He's not working as anime director anymore.
5- "Eyecandy" thing is doesn't make any sense! Pokemon is a Kodomo anime, it's main audience is kids between 6-12 years old, not pedophiles on internet! They are a really little part of real pokemon fandom and can't be effect anime makers' choices that much. If that's the case, we would had more fanservice. They're not Kyoto Animation...

What is your thoughts?

That was just that one guys opinion. Its hilarious that people believe that's the main reason characters are swapped out.

Anyway, I would not be surprised if Misty and Dawn never meet at all.

I completely agree. People can't rely on his word anymore. He isn't even on the main board anymore. The anime isn't obligated to go by Hidaka's words.

It just really annoys me whn people bring it up to go against the Dawn is staying arguments. :disgust:

He has no power on the show anymore. It's incompetent to even use this in an argument/debate.

I agree about the part that he's stepped down, so all of that Is irrelevant now. I think the 'eye-candy' thing Is exactly what it is. Anime has always been about the image (cool/beautiful and sometimes sexy)I think it's not really wrong to out and out say that's what they aim for, since they are fictional characters (who are 1000 times more mature than the average 10 year olds) That said I do think it was an inappropriate thing for him to say.

Then there's the chest size they later give May. They realized their mistakes on that one, and toned her image down.
