Author's Note: This fic comes with a couple of mandatory warnings.

1. If you find it cheesy at first, then I've pulled off the feel I wanted.
2. Yes, it is AAML. So if you get angry when you hit the end, I can't be blamed.
3. It's also supposed to be a humor fic.

I can't go into any more than that, but responses to this fic on FFNet have told me that all three need to be said.

Under the shadow of bushes leaning out over the water, they halted and drew breath. Ash sat down next to his companion with his eyes fixed on the shimmering surface of the forest lake. A magikarp poked its head from the surface to catch an insect darting across the water, but though Ash's eyes fixed on it, he acted as if he didn't see it. His thoughts were elsewhere, namely on the person sitting next to him.

"What is it, Ash?" the other asked.

A blush instantly crossed Ash's face. It was the voice he so adored, and there he sat, alone with the one person who possessed it. He cherished its sound – high pitched yet sweet with the innocence of youth. It was the voice of a cherub in full song in the wild gardens of Heaven. Ash shivered.

His companion, meanwhile, gave him a curious look and said, "Ash, are you okay?"

Ash nodded. "Uh, yeah. I'm just… Um… I want to tell you something."

"Oh? What's that?"

Before he could answer, Ash swallowed. He felt like he consumed a rock as something traveled painfully down his throat. His face burned red, but the rest of his body felt ice cold. He curled his hands into fists to prevent himself from shaking, but his companion noticed.

"Ash, are you sure you're okay? You don't look so good."

"I'm fine," he said with a smile.

His voice had squeaked, and his smile vanished upon realization of that fact. A feeling of embarrassment crept into his chest as he stared into those wide, innocent eyes. Did his angel notice?

"What's with that look, Ash? You know you can say anything to me."

Ash reeled. "R-really?"

"Well, yeah," his companion said. "So, okay, we didn't really get along at first, and we've only been together for a couple of years now, but we're friends, right? So, what's gotten you so nervous?"

"I…" Ash took a deep breath. "I don't know what to say. What I want to tell you is… sort of weird."

"Can't be any weirder than what we've already been through," the other said. "Think about it. I'm not a kid anymore, and I've been through a lot of the same weird stuff you've been through."

Ash smiled. That's why he had fallen in love with the person next to him. The other child was such a kind friend – a little harsh at times, but still kind nonetheless.

"Yeah," Ash said. "Well, what I mean to say is… I… I mean…"

"Go on."

"I love you, Max."

Max's eyes widened at Ash's words.

"Really?" he said.

Ash nodded. "I've loved you for months."

"Wow," Max replied.

Ash looked away. "Sorry! I made you feel awkward!"

"No, uh," Max shook his head. "I'm just surprised. It's… It's just that… I love you too, Ash."

Ash turned his head back towards Max as a wide smile grew across his face. He couldn't remember when he felt happier. His heart quivered with joy.

"Well," Brock muttered as he cast his fishing line from where he stood a few feet down the shore, "now I've heard everything."
That was just lolz! AshandMaxLove! LMFAO! WHOA DUDE' whoa! THat was so messed. @___@ ^__^*loads shotgun* *shoots Divinity_123*

I went into this expecting an Ash on Misty/May physical love scene! You sick bastard!

Of course, this was also brilliantly written and well done. Who the HELL would've expected Max to be the "M" in the AAML this time? I thought it was May right to the end.

Great work.

Great fic, BTW. Very funny.
