Twenty-five years after the first AIDS cases emerged, scientists have confirmed that the HIV virus plaguing humans really did originate in wild chimpanzees, in a corner of Cameroon.

No vaccine and no cure as of yet, but they've traced the history of the disease at least.
 
Didn't we know this a decade ago? Or was it just primates in general that they had it connected to?
 
I saw that. Of course they claim that it was passed on to hunters when they made a kill, but I'm more willing to believe that someone bonked a chimp ^_^
 
I think it was presumed to be primates in general, but they've narrowed it down to chimps, according to the article.
