hi guys, its great be here!

Lets see, well I've always been interested in pokemon since I was about 8 when it came out hehe and I have a giant question of great importance to me ;p

I have never owned a pokemon game for GBA but have played on my friends games before but also never had a link cable for trading. I would like to know about the pokemon sprite graphics. Okay so you know how for each different game the pokemon are posed and look different? I was wondering if you were to trade say a charizard from pokemon crystal to pokemon ruby, would the graphics change once you made the trade or would they stay the same? If they stayed the same does this mean I could collect a whole lot of different looking pokemon from various games? Oh also is it possible to trade really old pokemon over from yellow to the newer remade leaf green or fire red?
Thanks for reading :)

thanks, but what I really need to know is if the pokemon change when you trade them or does the current game automatically modify them?

sorry if I'm confusing you, so could I get a nidorino from say leaf green and saphire (these are just examples) and trade them over to emerald and have a few different looking nidorino? Cos in some games the pokemon look cool but others look better from different games

See if the nidorino looked kinda funny from emerald I would much rather have the better looking sprite from leaf green, thats why I would want to trade, but if they sprite changed when I traded it over and was just converted to the emerald graphics I would be annoyed if you get what I mean?

No, the sprites for each game are set in stone. An Emerald Nidorino is an Emerald Nidorino, because there is no other Nidorino sprite on that cartridge. That would take up a lot of space.

so just confirming, you can trade it to another game and have two different looking nidorinos? They won't change if you move them?

Nope. If you move a Fire Red Nidorino to Emerald, then the Fire Red Nidorino sprite would become an Emerald Nidorino sprite.

awww thats sucks, I was really hoping they wouldn't change if you moved them :( thanks for your help everyone.

Hi and welcome to Bulbagarden forums............

hope you'll be happy here..............

Yes, I traded a bulbasaur to Sapphire and didn't know it would look so odd...

Welcome to the forums! I still think Sapphire is the best game I've played so far. It doesn't have sneasel, though. T_T I had to trade one from LeafGreen.
