With the inclusion of Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza it is evident that Nintendo is attempting to move away from 3rd gen and possible remakes, so what are your thoughts on obtaining the 3rd gen starters, will it be like Emerald where you have to complete the original dex, or something new?

Well, I have no doubt we get one of the starters. I think it may come as a gift with the nat dex.

I think Prof. Oak will let you pick a Kanto starter when you reach Pallet town and Prof Elm will give you a Hoenn starter when you complete the Johto Dex.

Just my theory though

I'd prefer a Kanto starter over a Hoenn starter any day, but either is fine, I guess. I still have plenty of either that I can port over from my Diamond game anyway.

i'lll take a hoenn starter any day. But i think it maybe something like in xd gale of darkness. Go 100 levels in a battle tower(or something) and get a starter depending on which you beat.

I'm thinking it will be a similar thing where you get to pick one after obtaining the national dex. They will probably become obtainable if another Colossem/XD is made.

Can't say I particularly care if they are in there.

While I agree that I could care less if I actually obtain a Hoenn (and for this matter, Kanto) starter either, they are required to fill the dex. Thats the only reason I even thought of this, because it could be a problem ya know?

Just a thought/prediction: what if (and if you get a foreign starter) the starter you receive is based on whether you're a boy or girl?

Aside from that I would pick Hoenn starters seeing as how you can't go to Hoenn in the fourth gen.

huh? If you're a boy you get a kanto while a girl gets Hoenn?

No one would like that.

Hopefully they won't make you have to finish the Johto dex this time around...

I'd like it if there was some collector who traded you the starters in exchange for some rare pokemon. He could ask for a random rare pokemon, and you have to fulfill the conditions to trade for a starter.

It'd also be nice if there was some sort of event or something. Similar to some of the bonus missions in the Ranger games, except with one of the starters as your reward.

Heh, I'd trade Ho-oh if I could get a Charizard on my team. Granted, then I'd have to replace Tony and Alistor.

I'm going to guess you get a Hoenn starter for completing the Johto Dex and a Kanto starter (with Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon or Frenzy Plant) for defeating Red. Just because that seems likely to me.

Maybe Red GIVES you the Kanto starter.

Yeah, I think that would fit. The Hoenn from Oak or Elm and the Kanto one from Red. It'd work out nicely, then.

That is sad news for lazy bums like me who don't catch everything ever. xD; Ah well.

Well I am not going through all that to get them if they do a dex completion thing, well unless they make getting Celebi easier this time.

I'd prefer a new console RPG, I thought that was a great way of getting the Johto starters in 3rd gen.

If all else fails, I'm pal parking my Hoenn starters.

If completing the Johto dex is the same as completing the Sinnoh dex, then it shouldn't be a problem.

My only issue is them giving you one starter per region per game. I would much rather there be a way to obtain all six. (Or at least three from one region on one game and three from the other on the next game.)

As long as they give you some way of seeing all six, the GTS will take care of the rest.
