Well, I didn't see this elsewhere, but yeah.

Huge spoiler alert ahead.

They finally fixed the biggest screwup of Gen II.

GIOVANNI IS A TRAINER OPPONENT IN HGSS

Thoughts on this one? Seriously. This being the case makes the rehashed Sinnoh BF nothing of a problem at all.
 
Already covered. His team's kinda lame, but it's great to see him back. He has a great new look too.

Did you notice Scientist Gideon?
 
I'm just sad that they changed so much of the plot, but the Gym Leader teams are still lame and Kanto-centric. At least they were leveled up.

Well, since the other guys haven't said much on the actual question...

I'm happy. It took me two minutes to actually comprehend, "OMA, GIOVANNI!" I felt the nostalgia wave hit me like a truck. His team hints at early battling, but I'm wondering if we get rebattling potential. The one thing I'm really concerned about is:

Mr. Giovanni, sir. Is your son by any chance a stuck up, selfish jerk with red hair who likes to kick people around and steal pokemon?
 
Hopefully they won't beat around the bush and actually say Giovanni is Silver's father. Now the mother... That Rocket exec?

Seconded. This is like the perfect storm - Giovanni, Silver, a potential mother and the man who introduced the idea (Gideon) are all present.

Gideon's in. He has a unique sprite, and you battle his party of 2 Magnemite and a Muk. It looks like you battle him before Giovanni.

Judging by Giovanni's new design (he wears a long black peacoat and a hat, hiding much of his face) he probably appears to be a wandering trainer that you battle.

I bet Gideon's role is to reveal that Giovanni is in fact the former Rocket Boss...
 
I wonder... Is Giovanni watching behind the scenes? Maybe wondering if he should regain control of Team Rocket... Could Athena be the new boss?
 
LOL, am i the only one who doesn't care about giovanni? i don't really understand all the hype regarding him. D:
