Well, I can say for sure now that my time as acting editor-in-chief will not be boring.

Apparently Wikipedia is finally condensing its Pokémon articles into lists of 20 with general information.

Wikipedians who don't like it are trying to migrate their work to Bulbapedia.

I am doing my best to allow them here while trying to remind them that Bulbapedia =/= Wikipedia and to try to adapt to our style, not vice-versa.

I am also doing my best to not go crazy.

I don't really know if "invasion" is the right word for it, hmm. Where's that huge flashing "READ THE MANUAL OF STYLE OR DIE" banner when you need it?

Anyway, specifically, what exactly are they doing wrong?

Probably omitting a lot of things that they consider "insignificant", etc.

Bulbapedia has a serious lack of info right now. Wikipedia is throwing all of their content away. I find that completely outrageous, and I'm sure many others do as well. It's my thought that we should start a coordinated effort to migrate as much Wikipedia content as possible over. This talk of "style" forgoes the idea that Bulbapedia should be, first and foremost, a source of information on Pokemon.

While that would be nice, what if they got lazy? What would happen if they completely replaced BP Pokemon articles with WP articles? All of the information on moves, stats, and other game mechanics would be omitted or edited. Their content would conflict with the content here because they prefer to have coherent paragraphs in contrast to the content here, which simply has lists.

Brock has a Marshtomp that he caught as a Mudkip in A Mudkip Mission. Since then, it has gotten significantly less screentime (and battle experience) than its Hoenn starter counterparts, Ash's Sceptile and May's Blaziken. It was the last of the three starters to evolve (in A Chip Off the Old Brock) and it never reached its final evolutionary stage like the others did.

Nicholai's starter Pokémon was a Mudkip. Sometime afterwards, his Mudkip evolved into a Marshtomp.

During Having a Wailord of a Time, Nurse Joy asks Ash and Max to look over a Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip while May was practicing for the upcoming Pokémon Contest. The Mudkip of this group was very young and cried easily.

Mudkip eggs were first seen in A Mudkip Mission, when Old Man Swampy offered to show Brock his eggs.
Later in this episode Old Man Swampy offers to let Brock see one hatch, and Brock accepts his offer with much enthusiasm. Next, a baby Mudkip is shown hatching from a Mudkip egg.

The Mudkip eggs are kept in an incubator operated primarily by Old Man Swampy. This incubator is lined with what appears to be straw or hay. The incubators are not internally lit or heated, nor is any mud provided for the newly hatched baby to burrow into.

In the Pokémon anime
The Pokémon anime series and films are a set of adventures separate from most other versions of Pokémon, featuring Ash Ketchum as the main character, and various companions that accompany him through the lands of Kanto, Johto and Hoenn. During the Hoenn adventures, Brock, a Pokémon breeder and former Gym leader who travels with protagonist Ash Ketchum, obtains a Mudkip in Dewford Island[7] during Episode 301, "A Mudkip Mission." As Ash and his companions climb a waterfall, they come across a group of young Mudkip, Brock rescues a young Mudkip from being washed away in a stream. Brock's Lotad and Mudkip work together to defeat Team Rocket, at which point the Mudkip decides to join Brock's team.[8]

Mudkip's primary role is to assist Brock during water related situations, such as searching for objects in the ocean, such as an Illumise and a pearl belonging to a Spoink.[9][10] Mudkip also guides the Pokémon when Brock, Ash and May aren't around. It evolves into Marshtomp during Episode 425, entitled "Chip Off The Old Brock!"[11]

A separate Mudkip also appears in Episode 281 "In the Knicker of Time!" when the group meet a trainer called Nicolai, a young trainer, who is training his first Pokémon, Mudkip, which later defeats May's Torchic in a battle. Nicolai connects with his Pokémon in battle by dressing up in a suit resembling his Pokémon, wearing both Mudkip and Zigzagoon outfits in the episode.[12]

And do we really want these kinds of people on BP?

Nothing wrong with having coherent paragraphs, as far as I'm concerned, but certainly, articles should not simply be replaced. Far better to work those coherent paragraphs into the current articles. Avoids the problem of different licenses that way too.

Certainly might be worthwhile taking WP pages and archiving them on BP in something like (just as an example, it doesn't exist that I know of) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Mudkip/WP_Mudkip. Just so people can easily refer to the data there while doing editing, until it can be incorporated into the main article space.

I agree with Archaic. No need to waste the information... Archive now, play around with it later.

I was considering that as an option as well. It provides a nice intermediate solution. I doubt that anyone from Wikipedia would go that far, but there's always a counterexample. As for the quality of information,

In the Pokémon anime
May's Eevee hatching from its egg in Episode 434, "Time-Warp Heals All Wounds".
May's Eevee hatching from its egg in Episode 434, "Time-Warp Heals All Wounds".

The first appearance of an Eevee in the Pokémon anime was in Episode 40, "The Battling Eevee Brothers". In this episode, Ash's party comes upon a family of four brothers, who all have or have had Eevees. Each of the three older brothers have evolved their Eevees into either a Flareon, a Jolteon, or a Vaporeon, and they are pressuring their youngest brother Mikey to evolve his Eevee, too. What they fail to notice is that he doesn't want to evolve it. However, when Team Rocket steals all of the Pokémon, Mikey proves that his Eevee does not need to evolve as it defeats Team Rocket when his brothers' Pokémon were unable to.[9]

In Episode 118, "The Rivalry Revival", Ash's longtime rival Gary Oak uses his Eevee in a battle against Ash's Pikachu. Tracy remarks that the Eevee has bright eyes and a shiny coat of fur, revealing its high level of experience. Eevee ultimately defeated Pikachu, using a Take Down to knockout its opponent.[10] Tracy also noted that Gary's Eevee was ready to evolve into a Stage-1 Pokémon,[10] which happened before the events in Episode 173, "Power Play", in which Ash and his companions discover that the Eevee had evolved into an Umbreon.[11]

In Episode 185, "Trouble's Brewing!", a family of five sisters in Ecruteak City, like the Eevee Brothers in Episode 40, are trainers of most of the different Eevee evolutions, including Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, and Umbreon. The youngest sister, Sakura, has an unevolved Eevee. These Pokémon help in fighting off Team Rocket.[12] These same Pokémon reappear, with Sakura's Eevee having since evolved into Espeon, in Episode 228, "Espeon Not Included!", when Team Rocket kidnaps all of them. The Pokémon end up being rescued by Ash's party with help from the Espeon and Sakura.[13]

In Episode 434, "Time-Warp Heals All Wounds", May's Pokémon Egg hatches into an Eevee.[14] This particular Eevee's signature attack move is Shadow Ball, a Ghost-type attack. Eevee participates in Pokémon Contests, competitions where Pokémon are judged by how appealing they appear. It earns a ribbon, an award for winning a Pokémon Contest, after defeating Brock's Marshtomp in Episode 444, "What I Did For Love!". Its English voice actresses is Michele Knotz.[15]
as compared to
In the anime

Eevee first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers. A little boy named Mikey was hiding the Evolution Pokémon from his three older brothers because they wanted him to evolve it. However, when Mikey's Eevee single-handedly defeated Team Rocket, Sparky, Rainer and Pyro were able to accept the fact that Mikey wanted to keep his Eevee just the way it is.

Gary's Eevee debuted in The Rivalry Revival, defeating Ash's Pikachu. It evolved into an Umbreon some time before Power Play.

Sakura had an Eevee in Trouble's Brewing. When Ash and co. met up with Sakura in Espeon Not Included, her Eevee evolved into an Espeon.

May recieved an egg from a Daycare Worker in May's Egg-Cellent Adventure. The egg hatched into an Eevee in Time-Warp Heals All Wounds.

The first is WP, while the second is BP. I believe that all Wikipedia Pokedex content is currently archived within the page histories for the Pokemon. Is there anyone interested in splitting up the transfer work and making this into an official project?

We should definitely, at the very least, ask Wikipedia to keep the info around long enough so that we can collect it...

(Yay for additional Wikidiocy. Frankly, considering that fandom-y things is the only thing Wikipedia ever had a chance of being considered an authority on...)

I'm not too sure. Deleted articles don't appear to be archived at all

If I understand correctly, they're not deleting the articles, they're just going to have them redirect to the lists. You can still access the history if they're going to be redirects.

But if you actually clicked on the links that I've posted, you would know that you can't access the history of deleted pages.

EDIT: Checked it out. And yes, you can still access histories of redirected pages. So disregard this.

Do you have to be a member to access the histories, because I don't see anything that links me to anything like that.

Well, I figured that much. But that page doesn't even have a History tab.

You mean the pages llxwarbirdxll linked to? Those don't have history tabs because the pages have been deleted. Administrators can view the history of deleted pages, but regular Wikipedia users can't.

Redirect pages are different. You actually can view the history of those pages. However, if it is a deleted redirect, you can't.

Sorry if this seems complicated.
