I think it should, I see a fair bit of bullying etc. There are new members who sometimes say silly things, why should they be subjected to humiliation just because they made a mistake?

Other then that, good work mods. :naughty:

Most of the posts in the Hall of Shame are not by new users, but by established users who should know better. And trolls. Only staff members are allowed to post there, but for now everyone can view it... because otherwise, what's the point?

I agree with this post. Aeshaettr made an excellent blog regarding this a few weeks ago- the HoS was closed because of the immature trolling, and for setting the wrong precedent, but the mods continue to do exactly what the HoS was closed to end.

Evkl states that it was closed due to bullying etc.

Yet its okay for the mods to ridicule posts in this forum?

I read his blog as well... thats what motivated me to create this topic...

Agreed. Why should Mods be allowed to poke fun at people when we're not?
What makes them have the right?

On Archaic's defense on the atheist's thread, he replied to the thread before sending it to the HoS. And to be perfectly honest, I don't think his reply to such stupid claims count as bullying.

Don't know for sure if the replies on the other thread were posted after HoS moving or not.

Way to dodge the question. Just because Archaic posted a reasonable post in that thread (which I should point out was AFTER it was HOS'd) suddenly excuses all the other trolling?

How about you just open the House of Shit to the general public again? That way the mods will be able to continue to make fun of people without being hypocritical about it.

How about we just get rid of the HOS all together? All it is there for is to embarrass users. (although I laughed at trading totdile for ho oh celebi lugia enti etc. I did have some quwestions about that.)

Excuse me.

Replying to a thread that says "atheistare dumb mean&heartl.ess" isn't bullying. It's dealing with stupidity appropriately. I mean, it's the internet. Saying "please don't make posts like this" doesn't do shit as far as people like that go. If they're dumb enough to do it in the first place, they're not going to take authority seriously, especially when we're atheists.

As far as why moderators should have this power while others shouldn't, call it a perk. It also avoids annoying mini-modding, in which other users step in to fulfill the role of a moderator by telling the user that they "will be infracted" or the like.

Also, probably the best reason why we post in the HoS... it's hilarious. That's what it is. When someone makes a hilarious thread, that's where it goes. When a newbie gets their thread HoS'd, call it a hint saying "lurk more." I'm absolutely opposed to any change in the HoS at all right now... except that I'd like people to stop closing threads before they put them in there so I can post in them. :]

Hi, I wasn't trolling in that thread either. I was serious. Got an issue with that, take it up with me... okay??? If you have an issue with the fact that my first post in there (and only post that was directly replying to the original poster) is clearly against bigotry, I have no time for you...

The example that JuicyJazzy used was not about the first posts, but most after it. That was poking fun at the OP.

If we can't poke fun at the OP, why can the mods do so? The OP's are still going to feel the same no matter who does it.

Only one post in there was posted as a direct insult to the OP, and that was the second post in that thread, and most likely the last post before it was closed. The rest of the posts in there are rather serious replies to the OP, or lighthearted replies to other posters who weren't the OP.

Because the mods weren't the reason we had to close off the HoS.

You know you should just move this thread to the HoS in spite of the OPs feeble attempt to challange the dicktatorship

Naw, that wouldn't feel right, even though the OP thinks we're just a bunch of poopyheaded meanies here... maybe we can prove that we aren't.

LOL

I'm not excusing them, I just don't know if they posted after the thread was HoS'd or not (I'm talking about the Ash is gay thread). As simple as that. And even then, I don't see any of said replies as bullying.

Honestly, those posts are quite tame compared to some of the stuff regular users posted in the HoS threads when it was open to the general public.

This. We've been very well behaved since the shutdown of the HoS to be quite honest.
