How can I catch all the existing Pokemon in the more recent games?

First off, sorry for the long post. I didn't know how to put it briefly.
But on to the topic now...

Something I don't quite understand is whether the more recent games allow players to capture Pokemon from other regions than the one you play in. Or, in other terms, whether all Pokemon appear in them or not - with the obvious exceptions that I have detailed (hopefully) clearly in the Spoilers.

Let me explain a bit what is the meaning of this question.

By "allowing players to capture Pokemon from other regions than the one you play in" or "whether all Pokemon appear in them or not" I am talking about those Pokemon who can be seen and caught by normal means. More specifically:

1) the Pokemon is not obtained through Action Replay/Gameshark codes.
It kinda defeats the purpose of my question when the answer is just popping a code into my game. I'm not 100% against that, but that is way out of the topic right now.

2) the Pokemon is not obtained via trading or online storing services such as the Pokemon Bank unless it's the only way to do so.
It is pretty obvious, indeed, that starter Pokemon have to be obtained by trading (e.g. I'm picking a Snivy as my starter, so I will need somebody else to drop a Tepig and an Oshawott in my box sometime later). The same goes for Pokemon who are only obtained through special events.

3) I am temporarily ignoring version exclusiveness.
I know some Pokemon are exclusive to a version whereas the other one will not have them. But I am considering both versions of the various Generations as one, at least for the sake of my question.

So that leaves the Pokemon that you can see in the wild and attempt to capture, even just once (which includes many Legendaries).
Example: a simple Geodude. Or a Caterpie. Or a Gligar. And, regarding Pokemon that are only found once, let's say... a Suicune!

Will I be able to find them in the wild in any game? Or will they be only available through trading them from previous games/Generations?

Another example: the (Ultra) Sun & Moon games, from Gen VII. The regional Pokedex of Alola doesn't have many of the species from previous generations. Honestly I know little about those games but it doesn't seem we are visiting places where those missing species can be found. So I'm assuming those have become "trade-only" exclusives.
Am I correct about that? Is the same valid for other Pokemon games (and which, in that case)?

The reason I'm asking is that, at least from my past experience, older games such as Gold/Silver/Crystal offered a mixed pool of Pokemon to choose from, a thing that was retained to a certain extent in their remakes as well (although I have limited experience with them so I don't know too well).
Honestly, having a limited pool of Pokemon to choose from is bit of a letdown, although I could understand how difficult would it be to implement all 700-800 of them in a single game. It would have to be one hell of a massive game to play, requiring an insane amount of hours just to travel to all those places even just to see them all. But one can still hope that day would come, right?

The question in the title is not the same one from your last sentence.

1. If you want to use as few modern games as possible to obtain all non-mythical Pokemon, I believe you need at least two versions of the Alola games (any combination other than Sun/Moon, Moon/UM or Sun/US), and whichever Kalos game and Hoenn remake complement your chosen Ultra game for the legendaries (if you have both of USUM, then it could be any pair of Kalos and Hoenn games).

2. They could certainly cram all Pokemon into two-region games like HGSS, but they probably wouldn't do that even then, as they want players to buy more than one version or even a set. They seem content offering all legendaries (USUM and nearly ORAS) and all starters (ORAS and nearly USUM).

Yes, there are loads of trade-exclusives Pokemon nowadays. However, you can attempt to complete the Pokedex with just one game, using the GTS (Global Trade System).

If you need a certain exclusive, just use your exclusive, or something more or less valuable from Wonder Trade. Legendaries are tricky, but you can sacrifice your Solgaleo asking for an Articuno, then you use that Articuno and ask for a Zapdos, and so on, until you've catched 'em all. Mythicals aren't neccesary for completition.

If you're referring to Gen VII, then trading and Poke Bank. Only 300 + some others are actually included in the Pokedex. There is no National Pokedex.
