How can XY redeem the anime after Best Wishes

I'm sure that we all know that Best Wishes had a lot of screw ups.
- Horrible treatment of Ash's reserves
- Rushed pacing resulting in bland gym battles
- Evolutions during gym battles
- Iris's development
- Rivals treatment outside of tournaments they barely showed up and they weren't even that interesting
- Tournaments(all of them were lackluster)
- Episode N

So how do you think XY can redeem the anime after the fails of BW?
