I have a Kensington laser mouse, the tiny kind for notebooks with the USB receiever that fits inside the mouse when it's not in use. It works great most of the time, but the problems come when either the feet (little pads along the bottom so it moves freely) get gunked up or when dust gets in the "eye" on the bottom.

Usually I just rub off whatever's gunking up the feet, or blow the dust out of the bottom, but I know this is hardly thorough. That said, how do I clean it? I was thinking a q-tip with rubbing alcohol, but I don't want to ruin my mouse and so I need whatever suggestions I can take.

That's not a bad idea.

Thanks.

If it's similiar to mine, with a hole leading in to the eye, just get something long and thin and run against the edges of the hole. Hair has a tendency to end up in there.

That's exactly the way mine is.

I just blow it out. For the "feet", I rub off the dirt with my thumb.

If you want it sparkley, use a little glass cleaner on a paper towel. Not on the laser lens of course. Use a soft dry lens cloth for that. Blast any hair out with air, or use tweezers if they want to be difficult.

Douse it in gasoline and put it in the microwave, obviously. Really? No, I have no idea.

you can probably get cleaning solutions. if you have any lying around, however, i would suggest using the same stuff you use to clean glasses.

mine always break before I need to clean them (hopefully my new wireless mouse will live a long life) but canned air is like duct tape for computers.
