How do I get a gif image as my avatar?

OK OK, I probably should of asked when I first came to this thread but I guess that doesn't really matter. Well anyway my point is .. I've seen a few people who's gif images are actually moving, I uploaded a gif but it doesn't move. Is there any specific reason for this?
If you could help, then thank you.

Oh by the way, it's nothing really bad it's just that it would be nice to see the picture move...

Well, if the gif is bigger than 100x100, then it won't move.

I had the same problem, and I would say it was because it has to be square... if I hadn't recently seen a rectangular moving avatar.

Aha! This guy.

But what I don't get is why it's animated while mine weren't. New, larger limits? No more need to be square? Or does it have to be wider than tall (mine might have been taller than wide)? Hmm....

Basically, the width and height can be no more than 100px. If it is below or equal to that, then it will work. For example, Ryuu's avatar is 99x56, so it will work.

Yeah. The reason to this is because of vBulletin automatically resizes too large images, independant of their file type, and it cannot handle such features like animation (and I believe transparency too, don't know). If your image is within your image size limits (100x100 pixels for regular users), vBulletin leaves it untouched and it will retain its animation.
