How do Wi-Fi events works?

Basically, I want to get the Pikachu-coloured Pichu, but I've never so much as connected to the GTS. What exactly do I need to do? I have a wireless dongle providing my internet connection on this comouter but something tells me that won't help

Any help will be greatly appreciated

if you already have your wifi set up and junk then at the load screen go down until you see 'mystery gift' then 'recieve gift' and via wifi
i'm not sure any event are going on right now though?

You have to unlock Mystery Gift in Jubilife (see the Pedia for details), then reboot the game, choose Mystery Gift in the main menu, choose Receive gift, choose Nintendo Wi-Fi, and connect. If your DS's Wi-Fi settings are set correctly, that's all you need to do.

actually the pcp event is going on for all english versions of the game. over in europe, austrailia, heck you could be in antartica and still get the event as long as you have a copy in english and you have a wi-fi router.
