Not sure if there has already been a topic on this but I quick searches and found nothing.

How do you calculate IV's?

I've used online calculators however... they're a little confusing :/ They ask for the Pokémon's "EP" on certain stats, yet, they don't say what "EP" means so I have no way of knowing.

Can anyone help me? :c

I think EPs are supposed to mean EVs. I could be wrong though. (A noob at IV caculators as well.)

I use a combination of online calculators and the man in the battle frontier.

Raise to level 10 in the daycare, and then use Metalkid's calculator. It doesn't give me totally accurate results but I'm generally okay as long as they're 20 or higher, I worry more about specifics when I'm doing Shoddy.

I keep forgetting about the Battle Frontier guy though and I really should be using him more. :|

Usually, I check my characteristic first; if it's one of the ones that gives a possible 31, I fly to the Battle Frontier and talk to the man in the top right corner of the Battle Tower. Usually getting an idea of just my max. IVs is enough; if not, I'll use Metalkid's IV calculator.

EPs is just another term for EVs. The way IV calculator's work is by taking the stats you input and comparing them to what that Pokemon's stats could be at the very minimum possible (hindering Nature, 0 IVs, 0 EVs) and the very highest possible (beneficial Nature, 31 IVs, Full EVs). Since EVs have an affect on your Pokemon's stats, IV calculators need to know how many you've invested into each stat. That's also why you need to input the Pokemon's Nature.

If you don't know or if you forgot how many EVs you've invested in a given stat, my advice is to just shove Happiness berries down it's throat.

Go to a lvl 100 single battle on WiFi. Input stats, nature and EVs into any IV calculator online and you get accurate IVs.
