How do you change your appearance in the Union Room?

When I battle friends via the Wireless Club Union Room I appear as a Bug Catcher. How can I change my "trainer type"? Oh, I have SoulSilver.

There's a guy in the Violet City Pokecenter who asks you how you view yourself, and you get a list of four choices that's based on your Trainer No. He's upstairs.
