How do you expect to play through this?

I started replaying FRLG, just as a little side thing to do when all else fails. I'm in Vermilion, and I can't help but notice how grindy it is. I don't remember having to battle thing much before, with all my Pokemon in their 20's. It feels a bit more difficult than it used to me. Got me to thinking that I want to play SoulSilver like this. Take my time, battle every other trainer and such. Gonna be a little weird not being able to lurk most forums to avoid spoilers from the new sub plots on such... but I digress, do you plan on taking it slow and enjoy the sights, maybe taking up months to finish as I plan to... or speed through it, get to Kanto and let all the sights and sounds hit you like a ton of bricks?

I think there's already a thread for this, but anyway, I like taking my time in RPG's (and most other games, I guess), so I'll do the same with HG/SS. As for the forums, I'll probably ditch this place to avoid spoilers, even on the non-Pokemon boards, as it seems to me trolls would post spoilers everywhere.

Well, I think I'll do the usual. Train my starter to lvl 10 before first rival battle. Use him and only him in sprout tower. Evolve before first gym. Get a magikarp as soon as possible, then evolve before second gym. Traditional Ryuu gameplay.

I was thinking my ears, but then I couldn't see the cool graphics.

I'm going to play this game with my mind, hopefully it wont explode like the last time.

Pff, all us cool people are playing with our tongues.

Anyway, I usually start off rounding up some pokemon, then start leveling them up so they are all the same level and just try and keep them trained evenly through the game. When I reach the Elite Four, I just keep going at them over and over to get some cash (which works now that the money you lose is only dependent on your highest level pokemon, so it's pretty easy to turn a profit if you manage to beat at least the first two members.) Then eventually, I'll get bored of that, stock up on revives and full restores, then take them down.

I always do this:

- Pick a starter
- Train for at least 30 minutes on a route
- Capture ONLY 5 more Pokémon
- Battle every single trainer

That's it. I remember playing Pokémon Diamond and... I had Turtwig with me. I trained her until she reached level 32. I was battling Roark and yes, I had a level 32 Turtwig on my team.

I always do this. I like training my Pokémon so that we never lose a battle. :) I don't rush things, in other words.

Ahh. Relatable person is Relatable!!

When I play through the JP version, I'm playing as (Pokemon Special) Gold, so I'll have to grind my baby pokemon and Sunkern.

US SS, I'll be heavy grinding HootHoot.

I'll:
-Pick a starter (Totodile)
-Get a second early-game pokemon to go with it, even if I don't use that pokemon all the way until the end of the game
- Start collecting pokemon to go on my team
- Keep my pokemon relatively even-leveled

You and I will have to battle at some point. My Tony (Typhlosion) vs your Totodile.

I plan on going slowly, mostly because I wont be able to understand anything. I'll probably wait for a Walkthrough to get posted on Psypoke. When I get the US version, I'll go relatively fast, but still slow down so that I can see everything.

I'm gonna choose Cyndaquil, then Im gonna catch 2 pokemon before I head off; Pigey and Ratatta. Pidgeots are the best after Staraptors and I'll use Raticate (when it evolves) as an HM slave, and back up.

In Gold and Silver, I used to only have my starter and a bird. By the time I'd beaten the 2nd gym leader I'd aim to be at least 4 pokemon strong and at least 4 levels over their highest at all times. For this play-through, not much will change though I am significantly older this time round, so my strategy will no doubt change.

Slow and steady.

I want to play through the game as soon as I get it. I'll play without a break, reporting every detail of the game, before anyone else does. I'm gonna sacrifice a night. Discoveries are more important than sleeping!

Play at a slow pace and take my time. SInce I sped through Diamond I'll be doing it slower this time.

I'll probably go with a Cyndaquil, Hoothoot, Pidgy and a Ledyba and swap and train as I go along.

I'm going to play it slowly, since I wanna soak it in and enjoy the game.

But, knowing me, I'll probably speed through it really quickly like I did with Platinum. I thought I was going to go through that slowly, but I ended up finishing it in about a month.

Probably like I am playing Sapphire now.
-Train a full team of 6 at a time
-Keep them all at similar levels
-Spend a significant amount of time catching Pokemon as I go
-Thouroughly complain about how long it takes to get Pikachu
-Be completely underleveled the whole way through
