How do you feel about the SOS mechanic?

Better than Sky Battles. :sneaky:

I don't haaaaaate it, but it can get annoying. I think if we had a little more control over it, it'd be fine. A guaranteed way to shut it down would be nice (I'd been told that inflicting a status condition would do this, but apparently that's only with Sleep or Freeze? Although none of the Pokémon that I've paralyzed have called for help...), or maybe if it were a specific kind of battle that you could initiate, like Horde Battles. Like, instead of using Honey, maybe using an Adrenaline Orb while standing in the grass would initiate an SOS Battle. Or, if they don't want it to be fully under our control, they could make it so that having your party's lead hold an Adrenaline Orb makes wild SOS Battles more likely.

I understand it in totem battles, but in regular wild encounters it is extremely annoying. It makes it harder to level up weaker Pokemon when they're doubled on like that, and it also makes it incredibly frustrating to catch them because they can keep on summoning more if you're unlucky preventing you from being able to even attempt to catch.

I'm not really fond of this feature at all.

Although it can get a tad bit annoying (minior and its self destruct is more annoying to me lol), I actually don't mind it at all. I think it adds a bit of danger to my encounters. It also helps with training up my 'mons.

Well It is annoying sometimes but it happens rarely that wild pokemon are successful in calling for help. They sometimes call for help but nothing happens. It's not a 100% chance like it is with totem pokemon so it's fine IMO.

I created three Vulpix chains to get its hidden ability, which was very time-consuming and not a single one had Snow Warning. This is probably even more annoying when dealing with a hidden ability that isn't activated automatically, especially as you have to defeat the original wild Pokemon before you can catch its ally.

It was fun in the beginning, but it gets annoying pretty fast, especially when I'm trying to catch Pokemon. Though it can be useful for grinding sometimes (and of course for shiny, HA, and IV hunting). I agree that it should be some kind of special battle which needs to be initiated in some ways than just any random encounter.

Unpopular opinion hear but I love it, I feel like it's more realistic and what would happen in a Pokémon battle, at least that's what I think.

Someone mentioned Sky Battles and I missed those too, they were tough in XY because I only had Charizard and Talonflame lol.

*weakens pokemon*

*throws Pokeball - Misses*

Pokemon calls for and gets help.

*defeats help and tries the pokeball again - misses*

Pokemon calls for and gets help.

Rinse and repeat.

This scenario is rare but I have had it happen twice now. Its frustrating, to say the least.

The mechanic itself is good... It adds a bit of realism in the form of pokemon helping eachother out, etc... But it can be annoyign, like in the scenario I just described.

I think it can be both good and annoying. Good if you want to train your pokemon's particular stat and annoying if you just want to catch the pokemon that appeared first.

I have mixed feelings. In terms of lore, and it's not too troublesome I really like it, but when the Pokemon called is also quite high leveled a battle can feel very stacked against you. I'm glad they added it.

I'd like to see both it and horde battles return in the future, both serve different purposes and situations.

It's annoying.

I understand that it's probably their replacement to the horde battles from a technical standpoint, but I'd rather it just be gone.

maybe they could make it have a 20% chance of activating?
like you would have 25% to meet a hord and so on?

For training and battling, it's good, but for catching Pokemon unavailable outside SOS calls... NOPE. I hate how you have to rely on RNG multiple times, such as when I searched for a Sableye: I had to find a Carbink, throw an Adrenaline Ball, and then keep spamming it while my Pokemon gets hit/debuffed, and if it was another Carbink, I had to KO them or run away on account of low health and not wanting to waste items to rely on RNG yet again. (I got the Sableye, but STILL. And now I gotta do it again to steal a Razor Claw!)
