How do you feel when the writers skip some battles during tournaments/contests?

During all the major tournaments, leagues, or Contests, the writers always tend to skip some of the lesser battles or rush through them.

The battles are either shown in "still screens" to let us know the character won, or the battles are shown in short montages where we only see like 30 seconds or a minute of the battle.

How do you feel about this? Its understandable they skip the filler battles, but I really wish all the battles with the important characters during tournaments/leagues/Contests were shown.
 
Bad man. Really bad.

I really hate the fact we skip some potentially great battles, especially in this GF. They literally skipped half of it.

Of course, though, I am not that furious about same battles. We can't really sit and watch all the battles in most contests/tournaments.

BUT this is the grand f*cking Grand Festival. I really don't understand why they did that(yes I know it was because of time restains).
 
I don't mind it when it's stuff like...well let's put it like this.

For the GF: From the Top 32, we'd go down to the Sweet 16, then Elite 8, then Final 4 (lol NCAA), and finally the Finals. That would be 6 full battles. And honestly? I don't feel like watching all of them, especially since we'd be getting repeat Pokemon and moves over and over again. The positions I might have changed, but I don't really mind it.

For the League: This would be different, this would be at least 6 or full battles. And even though Ash is using some old Pokemon, I really don't feel like seeing them fight 6 times in super long 2 part battles. This is why I'm glad/hoping the battles vs Nando, Conway, and Barry are all 1 parters. We have more important battles to get to, so just commence with the quick Sinnoh Pokemon battles against those 3, and let the reserves have the long battles against the lesser rivals.
 
If it saves time, and they want the characters to win then so be it. In some cases I would want to see the battles but I wouldn't be disappointed if the end result was worth it.

As for the League they're probably doing the same thing. If Ash is making it to the finals they're probably going to be some still frames, or battles similar to the one Gary lost in Indigo( we will cut in late tot he battle, and see the end result).
 
I hate it... I'd like them to show all battles of the main characters, even if they're against a random character... it's annoying that they skip everything like that
But I guess there's nothing to do about it... we'll have to accept this since I can't see this ever changing
 
Honestly, I'm often biased depending on the characters.

For instance, if they just panned through stills of a Zoey vs. Kenny, I probably wouldn't care less.

But if they panned through stills of Ash vs. Paul...BROOKLYN RAGE.

I understand the time restraints and all, but it's just who the writers think the fans care about more, you know? Yet I don't know why they had to cut out Jessie vs. Dawn...incompetent little...
 
I understand that they have limited time to do most things but I really hate it when they cut out battles between important people.
The perfect example being the recent battle between Dawn and Jesselina in the GF. It was Dawn's semi-final battle for garshsakes! It was supposed to lead up to the Dawn/Zoey finals! :mad:
 
Its hilarious because about 80% of the Sinnoh Grand Festival's battles were skipped.

Granted we don't need to see Zoey and Nando's other battles. But I wish we saw some of Jessie's.
 
I HATE it. They completely skipped Dawn's and Jessie's battle in DP 176! That would have been a good one!

I'm just glad that they made Jessie make it to the semi-finals. She deserved that at least, since there's no way it wasn't going to be Dawn or at least Zoey in the finals.

RAWR though. I wanted to see that one!!

Yeah, we really should have seen more of that. It feels like Jessie's subplot was really handled quickly, and also Buneary/Cynda now hardly got any battle screentime.

Oh well. So much for a non-rushed Grand Festival. I remember we all had high hopes since we got 4 eps this time instead of just 3, but even that wasn't enough.
 
I don't care really. The important battles are always shown anyways.
 
I think part of the reason the GF seems rushed this time is because we've never seen a character go this far before, so technically we should have seen more battles.
I was pretty disappointed with the Dawn vs Jessie battle, as it was Dawn's semi final, she deserved to get a proper full on battle!
 
I believe Dawn had to beat 5 people to get to the finals.

The problem is we only saw her beat Ursula and a tiny bit of Jessie. We didn't see anything of the 3 other people she had to beat.

Yeah, it's pretty fail. The contest battles are actually pretty interesting in my opinion. I'd like to have seen more of them in the GF.

Now let's just hope that the Sinnoh League will show a few more battles, instead of just snippets.

The writers clearly like Ash more than Dawn, so I'm sure he will get more battles. :eek:

The league is bound to be double the length of the Grand Festival anyway.

I'm just trying to do what Iteru did in that other thread. :)

But the Sinnoh league is definitely going to be at least 8-10 eps, which is double the GF.
 
The Gym battles are the main point of the series, so I'd expect it to be longer. But I also think that it'll be longer in general. More battles and whatnot, more rounds. So who knows. I just hope we get to see some actual important battles, and they don't be selfish with it like they did with Jessie and Dawn's battle.
 
Even a 4-ep GF was rushed. Maybe this is why they axed Kenny so quickly, they wouldn't have time to give him a battle.

Oh well, Dawn only gets 3 (kinda 2) full battles in the GF. And people actually thought Dawn would battle like 5 people, hm.

Its not really all that different than the Hoenn/Kanto GF's, where May only got two full battles in each. The problem is here Dawn gets to the finals and all her matches are skipped?
