How many people use HM slaves for their in-game teams? Personally, I like spreading HM moves throughout my party, but now that there are eight of them, it's getting harder and harder. Especially in HG/SS, where there are three different HM moves relating to water travel.

Re: HM Slaves

i have hm slaved in 2 games, one was silver, the other was Soul silver

why the hell are there 3 water hms? why?

Re: HM Slaves

I normally distribute the HMs but I agree it is getting hard with three water HMs. My Feraligatr has waterfall and surf. Waterfall is actually helpful in battles though. I never use surf though.

Re: HM Slaves

In gen 1 I used to spread them but since silver I use HM slaves

Re: HM Slaves

When I first started playing the Pokemon video games, I spread the HMs throughout my team. And I still do it.

Re: HM Slaves

It's a mixed answer for me.

Sometimes I spread 'em; sometimes I slave 'em.

Re: HM Slaves

There are so many HM's that suck, I have to use slaves. But like everyone else, I do give Surf and Waterfall to my teammates.

Re: HM Slaves

I teach long-time use HM's, such as Surf, and average strength HM's to team Pokémon, and grab an HM slave from the PC when I need one.

Re: HM Slaves

To get through the game, I often have no choice but to HM slave a Pokemon I actually intend to use later on (I just make it forget the moves later)... I had to do that with Danish, my Slowpoke--it knows Flash, Surf, Waterfall, and Whirlpool--but I later planon evolving it into a Slowbro and teaching it actual moves when I'm all done with those parts of the game.

Re: HM Slaves

It's easier for me to manage my actual team by using a slave.

So at best I'll have one waiting at the pokémon centre to get through areas but once I reach a milestone, say reach a city ~ I typically deposit them back on to take out something I'd actually use for battles.

Cept for surf / fly~ I always have them around in my team.

Re: HM Slaves

Well for HG and SS I'm transferring my level 63 and level 100 Linoones with pick-up as HM slaves, made it through HG without Linoone ever having to battle and now all my teaam is early 70's and Linoone is still on Level 63.

In Pt I used Bidoof/Bibarel and just levelled him up with Rock Smash/Strength/Cut and surf. At a decent level he could do serious damage to Flint in the Elite 4 so not just a useless HM slave.

Re: HM Slaves

In HG, I used two Aura Mews that I cloned for the purpose of being HM Slaves.

Re: HM Slaves

In the Kanto games I used a Meowth solely for Flash and Cut, and in Diamond I had a defogger, but that's it. Surf, Fly, Waterfall, Dive, Strength, and Rock Smash usually go to my core team.

Re: HM Slaves

use a slave for the weaker and/r useless ones and actively use the ones usefull in battle- Surf, Fly, Strenght...

Re: HM Slaves

I usually spread them and in my first (test) run in SS I spread them out, good thing Dragonite is physical and Slowbro is special based, the only HM I didn't put on my main team was Whirlpool, I gave it to some random Poliwag I captured whit the 'walker.

However in Platinum I already had a Bibarel, so I just let it stay on my team, but them whit 4 HMs. And in Silver I had a Gyarados whit Surf, Waterfall, Whirlpool and Strength(I think) but it was equally leveled whit the rest of my team, so I don't consider it a slave.

Re: HM Slaves

In HeartGold, I'm spreading some of them out, only because I lack a suitable HM Slave. Of course, my Shuckle has a few HMs on it, but my Feraligatr has Surf. And I have a Lv.2 Zubat as a Fly-er. :/

In Platinum I loaded all my HMs onto a Biberal.

Re: HM Slaves

I usually have two HM slaves on the team and four pokés that I actually use and train. But now I've got 5 pokés on the team so I'll maybe have to spread out the HM's throughout the party.

Re: HM Slaves

Gen I, I always used Raticate.
Gen II, I used Pinsir.
Gen III, Zigzagoon :3
DPPt: Bibarel
HGSS: Gyarados.

Re: HM Slaves

No, I don't use so much HM slaves xDU. I have the most of the my HM which I got abandoned in the darkest pocket of my bag xDU normally the most of them are really weak and useless for battles :(! I use them only when they're strictly necessary, I prefer my principal pokemon to have atacks which the have learnt by themselves :3 normally are more powerful xDU The only one that I usually use is surf :3U It's powerful and I like swimming so much xDU and maybe fly too but only when I need it I take one bird from my box and I teach it to him xDU

Re: HM Slaves

I always try to use HM slaves unless I use Surf on a water Pokemon.
