How do you improve messy handwriting?

How do you improve messy handwritings? Mine is really messy, and there are times when people need to 'decipher' some parts.

I don't need any pretty stuff - I want to write in at least proper texts. AND I wonder how people can write in super small sizes - when I try to do that, my words always merge with each other.
