How do you think the writers will eventually end pokemon?

I personally think that Ash will battle against the best pokemon trainer in the world and then after a really hard fought 6v6 battle it will be Ash's Pikachu vs a legendary pokemon (that might be a little far) for the last two pokemon. Then we would obviously see Ash win (at least I hope) and look down to where his cap covers his eyes, grins and then calls Pikachu back to his pokeball. The same one that has the thunderbolt on it. That would be pretty cool for me.

How bout your guys thoughts? Curious to see how you guys want to see pokemon end.

NEVER!

The show will continue just as long as there's profit to be had, to hell with how good or bad the stories are. That's how the Anime Industry works.

I don't see there being an actual ending. It'll probably be cancelled during the middle of a season after a random filler episode, which would leave no conclusive end to the series.

Japanese anime are very rarely canceled. In the event that a show is doing so poorly that they have to cancel it, they usually give creators a notice ahead of time to make a final episode. This isn't like American produced cartoons that get canceled randomly.

...what about Kenshin and Bleach? Those two were canceled after the ratings dropped, and both were incredibly well-received shonen anime. Even DBZ Kai was canceled after the Cell Saga. These are pretty big anime, up there with Pokemon in popularity.

Still, it is unlikely that Pokemon will be canceled. It'll probably keep going like Doraemon, probably extending a little longer than it ought to.

Still, if it HAD to end, I feel the best place would be in an epic league tournament featuring all the major characters from throughout the series, including all the traveling companions, enemies, etc. Even some movie characters, just for fun. And not just like a league tournament, no, an entire season long arc, like, showing all the trainers going at it, in one epic finale, with Ash fighting the world's greatest trainer with the support of his entire group of friends.

...yeah, that level of awesomeness.

Yeah I'll agree with you

I could see writers deciding to reunite original trio for last season of pokemon when marketing stops being put in first plan. Since finale would revolve mostly around wrapping up Ash and other characters and as such under this circumstances writers would have more than enough liberty to tweak things around and prepare show for most suitable conclusion with purpose of leaving long lasting and better impact.

Ash, Misty and Brock were group which started anime rolling making it popular in first place. They were groundwork on which everything was built and developed padding out way for new characters to come in along with achieving huge popularity ending as most iconic and recognizable group in this show.
And long lasting popularity with massive amount of fans asking for their return showis how this could be well invested money and good business move.

Considering how motivation from writer side behind their reunion could be in serving as nice throwback in past reviving spirit of older days, act as reward for all fans who were part of this franchise contributing to its growing popularity, providing to target audience opportunity to get know better trio with who everything began and provide better sense of conclusion to pokemon anime with things going back to its roots/origins.

Its enough to take as look at hype and incredible increase of interest among fandom when Dawn or Ash Charizard was announced to return, not being hard to envision how much of attention return of first traveling companions going on one more adventure together would bring.

Personally i would be intrigued to see Ash old traveling companions joining him on last ride being refreshing for change to see rekindle of friendship between well known friends since they know themselves being more mature nowadays, which could allow for build up on their relationship taking it forward.Along with providing opportunity to see writers tying up some loose ends going for them being given some character development such as Misty achieving goal of becoming strongest water trainer/possibly E4 member eventually following footsteps of her idol Lorelei and Brock becoming successful and famous doctor. Providing all around better sense of finality being there at beginning.

Im aware how chance is small, but when everything start to be build up toward pokemon conclusion approaching its last season Misty and Brock playing important role in anime again would have certainly bigger chance to happen than now imo. Since their return would hold significance/purpose in that case.

Afterwards i could see writers bringing all other previous companions like May, Dawn, Iris, Cilan etc for mini arcs wrapping up their loose ends in stories, and getting some recognition for contribution they made to this show and its growth. Such as May and Dawn becoming top coordinators, Iris being recognized dragon master, Cilan top class renowned connoisseur etc.
Being followed with grand finale where everyone come to support Ash for most important battles of his life on his venture of becoming pokemon master, giving him moral strength and support of not being alone.

Here's how it works (if the writers have to end it) 1st is a Coordinators equivalent and that is the world grand festival that starts on Thursday at the same venue of the kanto Grand festival at Indigo Plateau (17 days before the start of the EPIC League tournament that agramugl is talking about and which also starts the whole final season/super-arc) there's 256 best Coordinators in the world the 1st day is the humble Appeals round which runs for two sessions In the first, Coordinators have their Pokémon performing with no more than one move, while in the second, Coordinators have their Pokémon using as many moves as necessary the scores tallied up after which the lowest 64 (8 in each of the Coordinators their home regions) will be gone, in the 2nd day is the Dance round which all Coordinators' Pokémon dance on the stage the scores from rounds 1 and 2 are tallied after which the bottom 64 (8 in each of the Coordinators their home regions) will watch the weekend in the stands, in the 3rd day is two parts in just one day the Visual round (the semi-final stage) a Condition round and a Dress-up round the points are tallied up from all the three rounds the top 32 (4 in each of the Coordinators their home regions) will move on to the final day which is the Humble Battle round where the computer will decide the match-ups the top 32 Coordinators will have a double battle for 4 rounds with the 1st of them in the day session and the remaining rounds will take place at night including the 3rd place playoff and the final round that is best of 3 double battle the winner will be crowned the world's top Coordinator.

There's a world tag battle championships goes for the week and it's held 2 weeks before that EPIC league tournament that agramugl is talking about. 128 tag teams of two will battle for 6 days and each day the field will be cut in half and on the last day there's the semi finals, a 3rd place playoff and the final.

There's the world double battle championships (2 vs 2) which goes for a week and it's held on a the week before that league tournament that agramugl is talking about which 128 trainers take part (who won day 1 of the World Tag battle championships) it goes for 6 days and just like the tag battle world championships the field will be cut in half each day and on the last day there's the semi finals, a 3rd place playoff and the final.

While's the 3 events is going on there's the torch relay which does it's journey a journey that will take the flame around the world traveling region by region town by town city by city until it get's to the nearest town or city to the venue of the Pokemon world championships itself (in this case every year Viridian City).

And last but no means least there's the the EPIC League tournament that agramugl is talking about which starts with the opening ceremony (which takes place on the eve of the 1st day of 16 battle days) with the torch on it's final leg starts at Viridian City and that leg will go to two routes 1st is Kanto Route 22 and 2nd is Kanto Route 23 while going past the 1st route 256 trainers have qualified to that Epic league tournament that agramugl is talking about, on the 2nd route the past champions aka the brotherhood and sisterhood of the best who achieved their ultimate goal winning the pokemon world championships and it will reach a stadium which is bigger than the Indigo Plateau Conference's main stadium.

The Tournament qualifiers start from the top 4 from that EPIC league tournament that agramugl is talking about from last year (when ash was 9 at the time) that stands above from all the rest the one that crowns the world champion trainer will be seeded then the top 4 placings from the tournament that had all of the region champions of 8 will also be seeded then the other 4 will be joining the other 8 trainers that won their regional conference again will be seeded (note that if a trainer that won their regional conference and went on to beat that region's champion league then the runner up will take over), all of the elite 4 from 8 league regions at least will also be seeded then the Orange Crew including the Head Leader (all of them will be qualified but as unseeded), all of the Frontier Brains from both Hoenn and Kanto side and Sinnoh and Johto side all of them will be seeded, all of the gym leaders from 8 league regions (the best two from each region will be seeded unless is a past world champion), the points from the top 75 non qualified trainers who have competing in the combination of series of qualifying tournaments and regional conferences from all over the world (including ash's rivals, old enemies, COTD that competed in regional conferences and various tournaments around the world, traveling companions, rivals, Gary Oak, Jeydon Ketchum formerly known as the infamous hunter J and some to name a few) the 16 past invited world champions (2 per region), the Pokemon World Tournament winners from the Junior, Senior and Master cup Tournaments (note that if the winner has already qualified then the runner up will be qualified and in the masters cup if the finalist have already qualified then they will have a 3rd place playoff if the 3rd place playoff has the two already qualified) and the top 5 from the last chance qualifying tournament. Each battle will be full 6 on 6 with the playoff for 3rd place making the field of 256 of the best trainers in the world but some trainer class are from an Villainous team (other than TR) whom it's Leader is ready to take over the world and a trainer who is seed #1 has won the last 7 years in a row in that epic league tournament that agramugl is talking about starting it's reign from the traditional home of the world finals Indigo Plateau (a trainer with the surname Ketchum who is ash's brother who is also 8 years older than Ash) whoever wins 8 full battle rounds is the pokemon world champion and that 8th round battle for the world championship will feature Ash vs that Villainous team's (other than TR) Top admin which is Leader's son Because if that Villainous team's (other than TR) Leader's son wins they will rule the world unchallenged.

On the eve of that 16 battle day world championship final while ash is having his final practice battle with Gary Oak (his 1st rival) along with Brock, Misty and that Ketchum Trainer (with his uncle's Persian) who lost to ash (that trainer's brother) in the semi finals started making phone calls to his mother (ash's aunt) little does ash know that he (ash's brother), Brock, Misty and Gary Oak are going to support Ash (who had already won the World grand festival, the World tag battle championship and the World double battle championship) but they won't be doing it alone. Other characters will not only have a practice battle with ash but they will come to support Ash more than ever and it'll come in waves by regions that Ash has been on his journey the 1st is kanto and the indigo league where all of ash friends, COTD, Antagonists, gym leaders (sans Ash's dad), Bruno of the elite four and rivals that ash has met in the 2nd region is the Orange Archipelago where not only that Ash will have to meet with Tracey Sketchit and Ash's friends that he met but he will also have to meet the orange crew (the quintet consists of Cissy, Danny, Rudy, Luana with her son Travis and their leader Drake), COTD and Lorelei from the elite four as well, the 3rd is the Johto region here all of ash friends, gym leaders, Will and Karen of the elite four, Champion Lance and rivals that he as met in the 4th region is the Hoenn region that Ash will have to meet not only May and her brother Max with Caroline (their mom) and Norman (their dad) who is one of the Gym Leaders but the rest of the Gym Leaders as well as all of his friends, Drake from the elite four, Past Champion of the Hoenn region Steven Stone, antagonists and rivals (even may's Rivals Drew, Harley and Robert with the latter of the three won the Hoenn grand festival) that Ash has met in the 5th is a return trip to the Kanto region but this time is the Battle frontier Journey where Ash has to meet not only the 7 frontier brains of the Hoenn and Kanto with Scott (the head of the Kanto Battle Frontier) but Solidad (may's rival who beat her en route to the kanto grand festival win) and Agatha from the Kanto Elite four as well the 5th is the Sinnoh region that Ash will have to meet Dawn (and her rivals) as well as all of ash's friends, gym leaders, elite four, Champion Cynthia, Hoenn region's Champion and Top Coordinator Wallace, Palmer (Barry's dad) and the Rest of the Frontier Brains of Sinnoh and Johto, rivals and Looker from international police in the 6th region Unova ash will have to meet Iris and Cilan who are not only ash's friends but Gym leaders as well but all of his friends, the rest of the Gym Leaders, Antagonists, Elite four, Champion Alder with his grandson Benga (who will be making his anime debut) and Rivals in the 7th is the Dekoroa Archipelago ash will have to meet Alexa as well as all of Ash's friends that he has met in the 8th (and last outside kanto region wave) is the Kalos region ash will have to meet Clemont with his sister Bonnie and Serena with all of Ash's Friends, Gym leaders and rivals and in the 9th and last Wave (there's a traditional pre-world championship final practice battle that ash's brother has with ash's brother's dad aka ash's uncle has in his (ash's brother) 7 world championship finals and winning all 7 of them) that family tradition will keep going with a surprise visit from ash's dad Giovanni Ketchum with his step sister Jeydon (formerly known as the infamous hunter J despite that she is wearing her old clothes from the Sinnoh region without her glasses and bracelet) along with Mewtwo (who is flying on his own) and Ho-Oh (from EP001) that he's riding it and Her Salamence that she and ash's ant are riding it will join in on the practice battle and these two along with all his Family, friends, Antagonists, gym leaders, Orange crew members, Frontier Brains from all over the world, elite four members and region champions from all over the world and rivals to not only wish Ash luck for the final battle but he is is the only one to save the Pokemon world. On the night of the Final battle the crowd is 100 percent supporting Ash (because they want 3 things 1st the crowd want to see a trainer form the host region winning the final 2nd seeing Ash becoming the world's greatest pokemon master and 3rd ash is not just going to win the full battle for his family and friends ash is going to win ash is going to win this battle for everyone) it was a very long and very tough battle (so long and tough I've can't mention the pokemon and the episodes that are in that battle) and in the end ash's Pikachu saved his best thundershock for last to not only win the pokemon world championship and becoming the world's greatest pokemon master but in the process saved the world and that sent the whole stadium into delirious scenes after that Villainous team's (other than TR) Leader and the rest are arrested with the help from Looker, ash is presented with the pokemon world championship trophy by his dad Giovanni Ketchum and at the famous final scene ash with all of his Family, friends, Antagonists, gym leaders, Orange crew members, Frontier Brains from all over the world, elite four members and region champions from all over the world and rivals he will say thank you to watching to the end Good bye.

I pretty much agree with this. Id like to see all of Ash's travelling buddies and his rivals altogether in the last few episodes so theres something for the people who watched it from the beginning as well as the people who got into the series later.
Besides that I really have no clue. Ive always wanted an episode that showed them as adults to be the one that ended it all but thats the least likely scenario I think :sweatlol:
It'll be interesting to see what they actually come up with if they decide to end it one day,

An episode where they're all adults? For whatever reason, the epilogue for DBZ comes to mind when you say that. An epilogue episode is a requirement, especially for something so massive...

Ash has way too many travel companions and rivals now to have them all appear in one final episode. If the anime ended a few years ago when the cast wasn't that large it might have been possible, but now it's too late.

Then it can be a few episodes. It doesn't have to be ONE episode, and it's not like they need to return to every character. Just the most important. And they don't need like a two or three minute sequence each. You can just have a montage.

yep exactly :) I know theres a fair few of them now and if they really wanted to make it only one episode they could maybe just have his main travelling buddies not so much the rivals, they could even just all be watching in the audience of a battle or something.
But I couldnt see the ending just being over one episode regardless.

Yeah, it would be something difficult to implicate but one can dream. Ive wanted one for ages for some reason.

I know I would be pretty excited, although that could just be the nostalgia talking.

I watched some of previous saga episodes recently and ill readily admit how i find Ash, Misty and Brock still had best dynamic as characters imo bringing overall more drama, conflict and lighthearted humor in this show. They all complimented each other well having excellent chemistry and interaction which was natural and unforced feeling like genuine group of friends pursuing different dreams while developing strong bond with each other feeling like family.

Many fans miss them wanting to see sequel to their stories being made as well being curious to see how they would work as group nowadays.
And i can without hesitation say how i would be interested in this as well.

What do you mean by, "mostly from the first?" The grand total of 3 characters Misty/Brock/Gary over all the others? Its obvious the writers do not favor one gen of characters over any of the others, and even when these characters were still part of the show, the writers didn't give them as good screentime as later characters.

I can see something similar to those Pallet eps that happened after the Hoenn league. Misty/Tracey were there and May and Max saw all of Ash's older pokemon at the time. However as I said, back then the main cast wasn't that large so it was easy to do.

We're now 2 gens later, with more main characters and more rivals, so I don't see it ever happening again. This is why the writers stopped the Pallet Town reunions in the first place, and why there wasn't one either at the end of Battle Frontier or at the end of DP.

A Harry Potter style 20 years later flash forward. Ash's son/daughter goes on their first adventure with their first starter Pokémon and Ash has reminisces about his adventures with misty eyes or whatever and it's really sad and touching.

... or Ash is going on another adventure because he's still 10 after 20 years.
