Inspired by a recent thread asking how we spend our New Year’s Eve, and since my birthday has recently passed, I’m wondering how you spend yours?

I don’t do anything special. In fact, I really don’t talk about it either. I’m curious if others here take their birthdays not as seriously.

My parents take me out to dinner for my birthday. For the past two years, I used to be in a program who will do monthly birthday celebrations and will also get my birthday celebrated with the program too. I'm not in that program anymore though.

I haven’t celebrated in years. Being a florist and a Valentine’s baby kinda left me preoccupied.

But I changed careers late last year and I have the weekend off this year. Will be attending a con

As my birthday is in 4 Days (Jan. 23rd), I used to celebrate when I was younger. I used to have friends over. Now, I don't celebrate, mainly because I would have really bad luck on that day. When I was in school, I would have a lot more homework than usual. These days (I am turning 34), I prefer to have a quiet day with no recognition, celebrating my own way.

My parents and I eat breakfast at Waffle House for my birthday...Since most of the places for dinner are closed on my birthday which is Christmas Eve of all days.

I don't really do a big celebration, I just celebrate at home... which mostly comprises of just getting cake and decorating the living room. Spending time with a friend would be fun, though... Back in school, I'd always have assessments during my birthday, so I'd have to study throughout the evening, which was a pain! x_x But my university department doesn't have any classes scheduled during January, so my days of studying on my birthday are over... for the time being, at least.

I usually like making quite a fuss of my own birthday, ha. I think it comes from being born at the start of September, so my birthday would often collide with the first day of school growing up; I usually had to keep things quite minimal when I was little.

How exactly I spend it changes each year - I don't have any 'traditions' per se - but I do always spend it with the people closest to me, whether that's having a party (the year before last I hosted a house party for my birthday; that was GREAT fun), going to a restaurant, going for drinks, or doing something more casual like an activity. I will always see my family for at least part of the day, then spend the evening with my friends.

i don't really do anything, and unfortunately i think that's going to be the case again this year. i think i mostly treat my birthday as just another day anyway since it falls on a workday for me, so it's whatever. last year i took some paid time off and relaxed and it was nice, but otherwise didn't feel that much different than any other day.

hopefully i'll do something big for my birthday next year.
