Hello. First post here and i'm wondering how the users here watch the anime, what preferences you all have. Dub, sub or raw?

I watch the raw myself because the music and the voices makes it so much better.

well as i live in the uk, i have the cheapy free chanels
and what i noticed is that there is a channel called citv
and ive noticed that they have the pokemonusa dub of pokemon on there

whether its battle frontier or diamand and pearl arc

they have battle dimensoin on weekdays
and battle frontier on weekends

and sometimes i wish theyll put the 4kids dub on telle sometimes

so i watch season 1-8 on my laptop by finding an eppy

and i watch 9+ on the tele

but when a new episode comes out i watch it on my computer due to i cant watch new eps on tele, plus the americans have the dub first i watch the new eps on youtube on the day it airs over there.

I still watch it dubbed...lol

But I should try to watch it in the origional Japanese sometime, it's probably better quaility lol (and, Ash doesn't have that annoying voice he has in the dub now, anyways)

Hello and Welcome to bulbagarden :)
I watch it Dubbed, because I can't find the subbed and I don't understand the japanese. If someone have an idea where I can watch the subs please write :/

Dubbed mostly.

However back in the days of 7th and 8th season when I started to lose interest in pokemon for a while the japanese version saved me from quitting. I preferred the raw over the english back in those days.

Though I came back fully 9th season onwards. Though I did watch all the dub of season 7 and 8 it's just I don't even remember half the dub episodes of those season.^-^;;;;;

I still prefer the raw but I'm too lazy to search them up now unless it's a very good episode. I enjoy the dub just fine now so it doesn't bother me if I don't see the orginal version.

I'm never around when it's on TV so I don't really watch much. But I'll watch some dubbed eps on my laptop when I get a chance or when I run into it on TV. But I'll also keep up with "current" events by watching the raw Japanese version if it's an important event (gym battle etc.)

I'll usually find the new raw episodes and watch them. I did that constantly when AG was airing especially. And since I've been watching D/P again, I'm starting to do that as well. But I'll usually only try to find the episodes that I really want to see. The ones that I really don't care for (gym battles.) ..I'll just wait till the dub comes and watch.

But yeah ..I watch the raw, sub and dub. Doesn't matter. I prefer raw/sub ..since the Japanese version is so much better than our crappy dubs. Don't get me wrong ..our people have been doing a great job with VA and stuff ...but it really irks me the way they don't keep the openings, and makes their own shitty openings ..and the way they change the original background music in the anime. D:

but yeah ..I watch the dub as well ..just because ..it's right there on tv when I need it, ahaha. :D

Raws for me - they're out quicker and I can take some 'clean' screenshots.
Though, I also watch the subs whenever they're available.
The dub I only watch if I'm bored or if I heard of a funny dialogue that I wanna check out. The dub really is just for shits and giggles, though both in English and Danish (the latter in particular because everything's so bad it's funny).

Since there wasn't an all three option, I chose sub. But I still watch the dub and raw versions "live" every week.

Usually Japanese when it comes out, then dub later.

Although this could be that I grew up with the dub as a kid like most people.

I don't speak Japanese, so I don't watch raws. The only advantage subtitles have over dubs is being more true to the original meanings of the dialogue. However, if the subtitles are direct translation, a lot of the humor and emotion is lost in translation, and if the subtitles are from the dub, it's basically the same thing as watching the dub, except I constantly have to read rather than listen and pay better attention to the screen.

If I could speak Japanese I would definitely watch the raws, as they're more true to the writers' intentions and probably higher quality, but English subtitles take away too much from that, to the point that the dubbed episodes are my favorite option.

I just watch the dub. There isn't any real grievance I have that makes me particularly want to watch the raw and/or subbed episodes, so...yeah. :p

I watch it RAW or Subbed depending on my mood. Though I do record the DUB. :3 I prefer it RAW/Subbed though. xD

I mostly watch the dub. I only really watch the raw for the episodes that I find particularly interesting. For the episodes that don't really seem all that amazing, I just wait for the dub.

Subbed. Original dialogue + original music + original va's + you don't have to wait half a year. Speaks for itself. Rubbish dub, I really do not find any advantages.

However, if the subtitles are direct translation, a lot of the humor and emotion is lost in translation
Huh? They do joke and have a generally funny dialogue in the original too you know. And emotion as well... I don't see how you can't catch those things.

and if the subtitles are from the dub, it's basically the same thing as watching the dub, except I constantly have to read rather than listen and pay better attention to the screen.
Subtitles taken from the dialogue in the dub and then put into the original is not really a subbed episode. That's just... massive fail. :p

Raw all the way for me. If it wasn't for my website, I would have stopped watching the dub YEARS ago.

And y'know...I never understood the whole "dubs allow me to spend more time focused on the animation" thing. Because when you're watching a subtitled TV show, your attention is focused solely on the screen. With dubs, on the other hand, you're much more free to divide your attention among other things (how many of you have watched the dub while, say, leveling up a team in one of your Pokemon games?) and therefore are not as focused on the animation as you would be if you were watching the subbed version.
