Could someone explain Cursed Drop to me? The way I and my friends understood it, the attack can essentially defeat any Pokemon in play by putting the 4 highest damage counters on each Pokemon one chooses to attack (i.e. I put two 50 counters and two 10 counters on a Pokemon with 120HP, knocking it out), but that seems way overpowered.

Yeah, that's not how it works. The "damage counter" effects, like that of Cursed Drop, can only place those 10-damage counters. The 50 ones actually count as 5 damage counters (it's a space-saver, nothing more), so Cursed Drop can't just put that down right away.

In short, when a card says "damage counter," it always means 10 damage per counter. For example, 4 damage counters = 40 damage.

What does the "any way you like" part refer to, then?

It means you can place each damage counter on any of your opponent's Pokémon. For example, if you're placing 4 damage counters, you can put someting like 2 counters (20 damage) on the active and 2 (again, 20) on something on the bench.

Ooh, okay. That makes much more sense. Thank you!

I've won many games with this move, much to the chagrin of my online opponents. Think your Pokemon is safe on the bench? Sorry. I'll be taking my last prize card now.

Must be especially satisfying to bypass effects like Mr. Mime's Bench Barrier. XD
