how far into the anime do they start showing all the pokemons alpha sapphire has?

I havent played watched pokemon since pokemon red/blue/yellow and i havent seen the anime past the original 151 pokemons either.
I wanna play alpha sapphire when it comes out tho,

but I want to watch the anime before, so how far into the anime do i need to watch to be up to date with alpha sapphires pokemon generation?
or i have to watch all of it basicly? or the game has cut loose from the anime and has its own pokemons now?

Ash' journey in the Hoenn region starts in episode 275, or some point during episodes 270 and 280 depending on how you count the banned episodes. It's the first episode of the "Pokemon Advanced" season, which is season 6. His journey in Hoenn finishes in episode 406.

Hoenn's megaevolutions will appear in a special that will be released in Japan on November 6th.

(Note to some users: I know that "season 6" actually starts 12 episodes earlier, please don't correct me, I'm making things easier for him.)
