According to Bulbapedia, I need to see every Pokémon Platinum's Dex. Question remains, is this possible before finishing the game? If so, about how badges before this is possible?

well you would need surf so you would have to beat Crasher wake as for how soon I wouldn't know because I only filled out my Pokédex after beating the elite four, but I suppose if you just traded some Pokémon from a friend you could get their early

Yes you need National Dex. You need to see all pokemon so you might have to face Cynthia to see some like Spiritomb if you can't get one before then. You'll need to go to Irion island if you can't get rilou before then.

Can you get National dex pre E4 even with seeing all pokemon?

You need to beat the elite four first.

Well what's the Goddamn point of being able to import Pokémons from other games if you can only do it after you beat the game?

If this was any other RPG, I would understand that it's for a Game+ replay concept except for the simple fact that this damn franshise only allows one save play :bash:

you can use Pokes from D/P pre E4. So if you have two DS systems you can pal park them onto a D/P copy and then trade them over from there.

So you don't dominate all the NPCs with your 50+ team from gen 3. Plus it's something to do after the E4.

Good point, but that doesn't explain why we can't do the Dongle trick before being able to access Pal Park

Would have been a nice reward for people who own GBA PKMN games.

I got the National Dex before defeating the Elite Four and Pokémon Champion. You can't get a ride to the Fight Area without defeating Cynthia, though.

I got the National Dex before beating Cynthia as well, and that gave me access to Pal Park (well, I think it did, can't quite remember). I also caught a Pokemon not in the Sinnoh Dex before beating Cynthia (though at that point i'd already got the National Dex) by using the Poke Radar Prof. Rowan gives you as soon as you get the National Dex (if you want to know, that Pokemon was a Mareep).

I don't think you had to beat the elite 4 in Diamond and Pearl but you did in Platinum. Or the other way around. Or neither and I'm just crazy.
