Think back... what got you interested in pokemon and what keeps you interested now?

For me, it was when the anime started that got me hooked. I then started getting cards and lots of them, I even had a collectors binder. I was interested in pokemon until the fad kinda died here, then started going off it. I remember watching bits of Advanced Gen and missed a lot of Johto and most of the Chronicles.

Thinking still liked it, I realised I had to watch the show again and somewhere around the end of Advanced Gen and start of Battle Frontier I watched the show again and have been watching the show since.

In late 2007 my best friend gave me a her old GBA and a copy of Sapphire she had and I started playing the game cause I was bored.

I had played Gold before at a friends, but never really played games until I got sapphire. I played it and then D/P came out. I did not actually like the game at first, plus I did not have a DS, but I got one and got Diamond (But a pearl cartridge was inside it!) anyway, I still have pearl and play it often.

I watch D/P, Battle Dimension now because I want to see Ash complete another region. Sure I never liked Ash Oaking his pokemon and starting fresh and I did not like a few episodes of D/P at the start, but I think this Gen, minus the first Indigo league series, is one of the best. It has a lot of good plot episodes and the movies have been great too, like the rise of Darkrai, it was great IMO.

I like seeing Ash and Paul riverly, not so much Dawns piplup, but seeing Ash train his pokemon he got from Sinnoh has been good, like trying to control chimchar and helping gligar get over its fears. Some episodes to me get a little boring after seeing them about 3-4 times and a few I won't be re-watching any time soon, but some, like the Ranger episodes with Riolu or the Battle with Paul when chimchar went overblazed have been pretty good to me.

Only episode of D/P I have seen that bored me a lot was in the episode Starly evolved to Staravia. *yawn* and the episode with Hippowdon was for me, kinda boring too.

Apart from Staravia, it seems that the rest of Ash's pokemon have got decent amounts of screentime so far, compared to some other pokemon like Brock's Sudowoodo recent or Some of Ash's older pokemon like Muk.

I have thought about starting to collect cards again as I have a Promo Darkrai one, but I gave away over 200 I had before, including many Japanese ones that took me forever to obtain ;_;

I was very young when the games first came out here...so i fell into the craze like many kids.

i think i stayed interested just because ash is still around and his character has changed along the way.

it was smart of them to keep the same lead character all these years because i wouldn't have paid attention at all to another lead duo besides Ash and Pika.

I never got into the TCG at all though, I never owned one throughout my entire life. I was strictly a fan of the video games and the anime...only recently have i started reading some of the mangas.

I joined because the video games looked fun, stayed for the craze, and then stayed even longer because I still really like the video games, the creatures themselves, and to a lesser extent, the TCG (Magic is deeper and more fun, but doesn't have Pokémon in it :3). I don't, however, like Pokémon because of the anime. I watch the anime because I like Pokémon, not the other way around.

I first started watching the anime. My brother and his friend introduced me to it. And my brother would coach me on different types, what type was weak against what, so forth. Then I saw the games, and I couldn't resist going on my own journey. I even got both versions, and an extra gameboy to trade with my brother. I played the blue, he played the red. Then we got the yellow, and we alternated, I got Brock and Lt Surge, he got Misty and so forth. And finally, I got interested in the trading cards. Although my parents always said I was too old for such things.

What keeps me interested now...the fact that there are so many new Pokemon, new games, a new adventure, and in the anime, seeing Ash and Brock and Team Rocket.

Admittedly, I was never one for trading cards, so I settled for watching the cartoon. Pikachu's Thunderbolts sending Team Rocket blasting off in each episode kept me chuckling, but when Team Aqua and Team Magma showed up and Colonel Hansen made his appearance, I couldn't help getting the idea that Pokémon was getting to be more serious than it had been. The appearances of Pokémon Hunter J and Team Galactic amplified that suspicion on my part greatly, and in fact, as a result of what I've seen in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl -- including Ash and Dawn's adventures, if as another main reason -- I may be even more interested in the show now than I was when it first premiered. Just think of J's demeanor: a woman who's willing to have her Pokémon attack trainers directly, eject hangars with people still in it from her airship while it's still in flight, and even start a wildfire in order to acquire whatever Pokémon she's targeting. When she concludes, there's not even one word of concern, but simply a set of instructions toward searching for a new target or getting a new mission. Then, there's Team Galactic, especially Cyrus, who believes that unleashing and controlling Dialga and Palkia will give him enough power to annihilate Sinnoh and the Pokémon world and set himself up as a deity for a new world that submits to him. These forms of evil in Sinnoh are compelling enough to fit into my interests by themselves, but together, J and Team Galactic could end up creating an all-out war in the Pokémon world, starting in Sinnoh, so Ash, Dawn, and their friends must work together to stop J and Team Galactic once and for all.

The anime got me into it, and eventually I got the game because of the show. Then since I was addicted to the anime and the game at the time and not to mention the huge TCG fad, I started getting cards. Didn't collect nor battle with them....kinda just a whole bunch of wasted money.

I've grown out of basically most of the Franchise now. I've lost my interest in the anime all together, stopped watching as soon as Advanced started because it was getting so terrible. The only thing that keeps me tied to Pokemon are the games and the nostalgia.

:7up: <---- Me and my friends when we talk about Pokemon.

We openly talk about it in front of kids in school. (I'm in high school) And surprisingly no one has said anything to make fun of us.

Sorry, I digressed there without even starting my post. :P

I watched the anime, played the games, and bought the TCG as a kid. In the II Gen, I continued to do this up until the III Gen. I only watched the show every once in a while and stopped buying cards because I no one played the game. So I bought Sapphire and Emerald and had a blast! I also bought FireRed. Now that were in the IV Gen I plan on buying Platinum because my brother buying Diamond got me excited about Pokemon again.

I REALLY don't understand why people complain how the Pokemon games need some kind of drastic change. I understand the complaint how they need to slow down on the Pokemon, but the truth is you get YEARS to get them all. They only make one gen per handheld. A deeper story would indeed be better, nothing wrong with that, but the truth is is that if you want something different from Pokemon buy the side games. >.>

The anime got me started because my interest is animals and pokemon are sort of like animals and plus they can use cool attacks like Flamethrower and Thunderbolt so after watching the anime I also started knowing there was Pokemon games so my first ever game was Yellow version and it had Pikachu as a first just like the anime and you had to put up with Jessie,James and Meowth in the game except he battles along with Arbok and Weezing plus you could get all starters and they are at level 15 so basically I like the games and anime

I started getting into Pokemon about eleven years ago when my sister brought home a few of the cards (not the CCG cards, just some random cards) and I became completely entranced by them. My younger sister and I quickly got some anime on DVDs (we didn't get Cartoon Network) and started in on the card game. I fell completely head over heels for them, and by that Christmas, Red, Blue, and Yellow were all mine. Then came Silver while my sister played Gold.

I was in and out of Pokemon from then on. When a new game came out, my interest would flare up again, consuming almost my entire life. I'm in one of those cycles right now. Though if everything goes according to plan, I'll never be out of this cycle again. :D

I was hooked on Pokemon via the anime when on a trip to California, and subsequently got into the games and TCG, but since then I've been mainly focused on the games, and to some extent the music. Whenever a new generation comes out, I charge through the whole game in a day. And I'll happily snatch up any Mewtwo (my fave) related products, I have many Mewtwo plushies and figurines to my name.

I was hooked after I saw the first Pokemon at the theaters. I didn't hear anything about Pokemon until I saw that movie, and I was hooked into the anime. I remember going to a friends house the next day watching the first few episodes that he recorded.

I also remember getting a pack of Pokemon cards in the mail and not knowing where they came from. I also remember that's where I got the Base set Charizard as the first card in the pack.

Later in the year I got a GameBoy and Pokemon Blue. I loved that game from the start.

I remember getting the Silver game as a present from my dad and I remember that was the first game that I got a level 100 Pokemon, Feraligatr. I remember watching the show very closely during this time as well as collecting some of the cards and a giant Pikachu plushe.

Around the time Ruby came out, I had a little decrease in the fandom, so I was overjoyed that there was something to keep me occupied.

Then some bad things happened. Our dog that we had for a month peed on my giant Pikachu, forcing me to get rid of it, My Ruby version was easy to beat, and I stopped collecting the cards.

I got Emerald and got hooked of the games again, but I barely watched the show, because of the voice changes.

I got Diamond and Pearl now, and I'm starting to watch the show constantly now and I may start to collect the cards again.

I'm still in my first flush of fandom. Yeah, I've only been into it for a year or two (anime, almost wholly). I think it was since Battle Frontier was airing on CN, though I'm pretty sure it was in reruns, not fresh...it was on a weekday afternoon, I think. (The first entire episode I recall watching was "Berate and Switch." Since I only watched an episode because someone was pimping Rocketshipping to me, it was a serendipitous ep to catch, my first time in.)

And yeah, I'm too old to get hooked on a kid's cartoon. Dang shipping pimps...dang serendipity...sassafrassin' twelve-year-old inner child....

I became interested on pokemon eight or nine years ago.. exactly when the "fever" started. Although I initially didn't got interested in pokemon at all, the fact that most my friends/school mates liked it, made me enjoy these creatures as well, as I started to follow the anime while collecting some pokemon cards at the same time.

I only started playing pokemon games when Pokemon Silver and Gold came out - I finally got my first (and only) gameboy at that time and the first pokemon game I ever had was Silver. Later on, I would buy Blue and Crystal too.

Nowadays though, I must say I lost most of my interest in pokemon. I left the TCG a long time ago, and got rid of all my cards in a way or another. I also quitted following the anime somewhere in the middle of Pokemon Advanced (because for some reason they stopped airing pokemon in my country.. or at least at decent hours)so, the only thing that still got me caring about pokemon were the subsequent video games.

Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald I played them (I didn't necessarily buy them, I simply got the opportunity to play those games, like having borrowed them from others, etc.) and I had loads of fun with those. However, I never got to the IV generation of Pokemon. I just feel that it's not for me, and so.. have never played the games or watched any anime about this generation.

When 2008 began I started thinking.. "wow.. I think this is the year I'll just definitly forget about pokemon" (lol.. it was not a new year resolution.. it was just something that I was expecting to happen) but I was wrong.. Not only did I kept interested in pokemon in general ( most notably watching the movies once in a while on youtube, replaying the games and I even registered myself on Bulbagarden last year and... I'm right now posting in this thread).

All in all, long gone are the good years of my childhood when I was hooked to pokemon, but, I still haven't forgot about Pokémon completely either. No, I don't collect any more cards, no, I don't watch the anime anymore, no, I don't even play the games anymore. No, I never got to the IV generation.
The only thing I do nowadays related to pokemon is to get "involved" in discussions about one or two subjects, in case I find them interesting, once in a while.

i first loved pokemon when i saw it on the telly and when kids at school started bringing the TCG and i collected loads of cards and watched the anime for ages but nowadays i dont get TCG so often or watch the anime much
i just play the games mostly

I was first introduced to pokémon via a guidebook my friend decided to bring to school one day. It featured a complete list of the pokémon, Green version sprites, and a bunch of largely incorrect type listings. I remember finding Goldeen particulary hillarious, annd Caterpie became my first 'favourite' after viewing 'Ash catches a pokémon'.

Back in the day, there were very few monsters I actually cared for consistently, since I personally found too many of them to be...how can I piut this...'plain'. Lets just say that the likes of Persian and Charmander really didn't do much for me. If I saw them in the show one week, I'd illustrate them and develop an interest. But after that week, it would all fade away, and I'd be looking back and wondering why, exactly, I'd been so enthusiastic about them in the first place.
But I was fasinated by the stranger creatures such as Electabuzz, Magmar, Scyther, Dodrio and a whole host of others. It's thanks to them that I remained a fan of the series in it's hay day, and indeed, still remain playing the games and watching the show.
These days there tends to be a larger emphesis on somewhat unorthadox design and concepts when it comes to pokemon, so I'm perhaps more interested in it now than I ever was.

The games, I've own every single one of the Versions except for Emerald, Diamond and Pearl. And I was in love with them. Like other kids at my school, I would play them AT the school, especially Gold and Silver and Crystal. *hopes to get a DS for Platinum*

The TCG, I was into at first, kind of, until Yu-Gi-Oh! came out. I loved Yu-Gi-Oh! However, I did really enjoy the Pokemon TCG video game.

And the show, I would watch it whenever I could up until Master Quest or something. Then I started watching more again in Advanced but I rarely have watched it since then.
