to make an animated series based on pokemon outside of japan? Like say...if you wanted the same art style yet different animation teams, more dramatic storylines (some that involve loss), etc.?

Pretty impossible I would say. The amount of royalties that will probably have to be paid to Gamefreak will far exceed the chances of success with the spinoff anime itself given most people would just stick with the original anime than the spinoff.

IMPOSSIBLE. to create a pokemon world that isn't already created, to use over 400 creatures (all of which are patented), and to get the rights from GF and Nintendo... Sorry, aint happenin.

Pokemon won't even create an alternate anime series (not even if it was a short OVA of sorts), why would they go ahead to create something outside of Japan? Not saying I wouldn't want it, God knows I'd be interested in seeing SOMETHING different from Satoshi and co. but...eh. *shrugs*

Not sure it's too relevant but it's nice to think about.

But being a creative person I created ability (the name sucks by the way) which can manipulate images and sound. So basically you can "telepathically" create a Pokemon episode, at the highest degree of level that can only be matched by the highest technological degree. Which means animation wise if you had this ability nothing so far could emulate the perfection (if you want it to be that good).

And I always envisioned if I had this ability I would "translate" my fan fic that I'm writing into an animated media.

Now it is a shame you can't just give them credit and run with them. As for royalties and monies of that sort. I wouldn't use my ability for profit, for something like Pokemon, but it would be nice to use it so I can have something that rivals the real anime in quality. Which would be fun.

Of course you have to wonder, if someone took the time and they were really good (like Pokemon anime good), what about fan made Pokemon episodes?

However I agree, something on the magnitude you're talking about would be impossible.

Maybe it's impossible, but then again, if Japan can create their own Beast Wars sequel series (Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo), despite it being made in Canada and their dubbing/ruining it, I'd say that we also have that chance.

Even if it were possible, I feel that there are very few, if any, American animation studios talented enough to take on the task. Pokemon is very much a Japanese product, and I doubt that anything produced elsewhere would even remotely resemble it.

probably not since Americans censor most things

They don't have to show sex in order for it to be considered "more shippy", though. Heck, many Disney films (like TLM, BatB, Aladdin, SB, Cinderella, etc., etc.) had kissing in it, and they never tried to censor it.

Besides, 4Kids sneaks in quite a few Shippy lines (most infamous example would be the "You and I will be married someday" line in "The Heartbreak of Brock", as that line wasn't even close to the translation of the Original line.)

Actually, it probably would, seeing as it was 4Kids that dubbed in a great many of the Pokeshipping hints in the first place.

Edit: Weedle beat me to it. But yeah, that. :p

That and Powerpuff GirlZ.
