I watched the Regigigas episode and I thought how can hunter J stay in business. Her men and gadgets seem ludicrously expensive. I know it is a cartoon but p'still

You know, I don't really think it is that expensive. There's the technology to teleport objects (Monster Balls) widely available in every Centre out there, and the Rocket Dan could afford numerous robots despite apparantly being broke most of the time.

The Team Rocket establishment probably obtains most of its income through "Illegal Pokemon Trafficking" at the lucrative Game Corner and then proceeds to throw all of its funding at their most incompetent field agents for some enigmatic reason.

If you don't want to believe this or anyone else's theory... *Gasp* yeah, it's actually a cartoon!

We've seen the TRio make tons of money through legal operations.

And Hunter J preseumably makes tons of money through her illegal transactions. (Imagine how much she would have got from the damn Lake Trio!)

Either that, or she was sinking in debt.

This is also a world where a reject lab assistant can afford to construct an airship the size of a shopping mall. I think high technology is just plain cheaper there.

Plus, J's a bounty hunter. Pokemon go for big bucks.

Perhaps the writers were going for a typical "crime doesn't pay" moral, but with more a literal "evil gets diminishing returns on it's investments" lesson included.

Jessie and James have been cut off from the main organization's funding list ever since season 4. Jessie and James have be buying what ever scrap parts and kits that they can afford. You can actually see the generally deterioration in the quality of the mechs they can afford. In one episode in Johto they had an incredibly powerful Wobuffet Mech that could resit what ever Ash and Friends could throw at but in Shinnoh they had to use a mech made out of plywood

Hunter J was renowned for her ability of obtaining Pokémon illegally, and some of the rarer ones must have been worth quite a lot. I assume that she was probably just herself when she started, but as she got more interested, more people were willing to invest in her 'skills', thus leading to the giant airship and goons.

Also, money doesn't exist in cartoons.

IIRC, they're still connected. They just have to pay the Delibird their dues every once in a while.

Wendy! *shakes fist to the sky*

I'm not sure that even applies anymore since they're actually in favor with the organization.

Isn't Kojirou rich anyway? Money should be no object if he has different vacation cottages in Sinnoh, Johto, Hoenn, and Kanto.

Yeah, J probably got her money from selling off stolen stonmized Pokemon to her sellers. We saw a Teddiursa she sold off before remember?

Apparently Pikachu who know Volt Tackle sell pretty well. So, Pikachu right now in Isshu wouldn't be worth as much according to J's reactions.
