The most confusing part in type matchups, how is psychic weak to bug? How come Ghost is weak to Dark? Shouldn't Ice be weak to Water?
Well... I'm just asking. But can anyone explain?

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

Why would Ice be weak to water? I actually think water should be weak to ice, 'cause Ice freezes water..

Go get an ice cube and pour water over it. Even if it's cool water, it'll still start to melt.

This.
Although, Ice can freeze water. I would have expected it to be a two-way Super Effective.

Perhaps the Bug-Psychic thing has to do with bugs generally having very simple brains? Kind of like putting a rock in a blender, y'know? Maybe something about them disrupts Psychic types.

It's possible, I guess. It's either that or the idea that putting a tarantula on somebody's face is going to disrupt their concentration.

Bugs are hive minded. The swarm acts as one being. Controlling the mind of one is going to do much to the actual swarm.

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

Okay, I guess the water and ice was a dumb question... What about the fact that Dragon is weak to Ice and Dragon itself?

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

because two tangling enraged dragons that cause major damage to each other would be a very epic scene.
they probably made them weak to ice coz most of them are flying. heck, i dont really know.

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

Maybe my understanding of physics is a bit too crude, but I never understood why flying is weak to electric, when a bird can't become electrocuted unless it is in contact with the ground? On that note, why is ground immune to electric...?

Some of them were clearly paired up for convenience's sake, really. You can't exactly debate about psychic/dark/ghost/dragon because their typing isn't strictly related to any 'real' scientific element. Dragon is weak to ice because they needed to be weak to something back in generation 1 besides dragon (where there was only 1 dragon move).

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

i would've thought water was good to electric, seeing as water damages all electrical appliances

Lol, but water conducts electricity, therefore this type advantage makes perfect sense (water types are becoming electrocuted through and through)

ok good point

What about Steel? They conduct electricty but ends up resisting it.

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

how do they determine why Dark is super effective to psychic and fighting is good to dark, and psychic is good to fighting

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

I always assumed psychic is weak to bug because bugs (ghosts and the dark, too) are all common fears that people have. Psychic has to do with the mind, therefore it's weak to those types.

Dark types corrupt Psychics and Psychics break focus which is in all Fighting Types.

Re: How is (insert pokemon type) weak to (insert pokemon type)?

Dragon type being weak to itself has a parallel in the real world: diamonds.

Diamonds are the hardest and some of the rarest minerals on Earth, and the only thing that can cut a diamond is a diamond.

Dragons are amazingly rare & powerful creatures, some of the toughest in the Pokémon world. So, Dragon type is one of the only two types that parries with Dragon.

See my logic? Dragon/Ice eludes me, though.

There's a huge difference.. Like, electrical appliances and lightning itself aren't the same thing.

If lightning strikes water in real life, and people would be swimming in that water (be it a lake, or a sea, whatever), those peepz would be fried, or actually, they'd be killed instantly.

If you just throw your toaster in your pool, it will stop working immediately.

Flying vs. Fighting. Although I'm not complaining, if my Yuccello can pwn those Machamps :D
