How many generations would you like to have.

I would like to have like 3 more generations or 4. But i don't want it to go so far that we will have to group generations into Era's. Like a Game Boy Era or a DS Era. well that might be cool.

I don't want too many. I don't want to have to get beyond 750 pokemon at the absolute maximum. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they started adding less new pokemon in each generation. I'm betting for somewhere from 3-4 more gens at least, though way more than that if they find something new for pokemon.

I want as many as possible without them losing their touch. 8-10 would be a good minimum, though, because I want Pokémon to still be around when I have kids. I just hope they don't kill themselves.

yea 8-10 but pokémon might slightly lose it's touch. but i doubt that

I don't mind really. I collect monster collecting games so I'm collecting monsters all the time.

I can see Pokemon getting a few more gens.

I can also see Pokemon getting more monsters and it probably wouldn't bother me.
Other monster collectors have alot of monsters and Pokemon doesn't have the highest number of monsters for a monster collecting franchise.

Fun fact: Digimon another franchise despite excluding most of their monsters in their games has over 800 designs of monsters.

So it's not really unheard of for monster collectors to get such high numbers in monsters.

I'd say Pokemon will probably go for a few more gens and we'll see how much bite it has in it after that. I think the biggest question for me is whether they'll continue keeping all the Pokemon accessable or will they go the way of other monster collectors and start removing certain ones.

Personally Pokemon proves to be the oddity in the sense most monster are accessible in one way or another and probably be the key to it's success. Removing monsters may end up being a mistake if it happened. Though I am curious to see what they do when there becomes too much to handle or can they handle such a high amount? Will they just stop adding after a while?

Only the future knows what happens to the franchise.

I'd like to see it keep going, much like Final Fantasy does. They just keep putting out new games, as long as they keep selling. I'd like them to keep putting out about 100-150 Pokemon each generation, with less Legendary Pokemon than Generation IV had. Enhance the game in other ways, too. I'd like to see customization options for the character, though if they keep the characters looking as cool as the Generation IV characters, I'd be completely happy.

I could do with a few more gens. But collecting every pokemon would be one massive task.

For some reason, the word "seven" appears in my head everytime I'm faced with this question. I'm still waiting for my Dragon eeveelution.

It could go on forever and I wouldn't care.

^Same.

As long as it ends before I die, I'm cool. *shot* It lasting forever would be pretty annoying. I love Pokemon, but I don't want to EV-train and collect over a million critters. Plus, there's only three regions(unless you count islands) of Japan that haven't been used, unless they base regions off of other countries, there's not much to work with.

Sure, it will last a while, but it won't and will never last forever. I have a feeling it will last another 10 to 20 years. But who really knows? Only time will tell.

Personally, I don't want it to end anytime soon, but I would prefer it would end at least somewhere around 2015-2020 IMO.

I don't really want it to just end, but I don't want it to go on for so long that it loses it touch. I think they could still get more generations out of series, so there is nothing that I am worried about.

Also, I would rather they spread out the releases of games more, rather than burn through the generations, if pokemon does start to reach the end of its life as a series.

I would probably want them to stop making new Pokemon after 3 or 4 more Generations. I like the feeling when a new Pokemon is revealed, and all the speculation about the new Pokemon Games...I remember when i found out about Diamond and Pearl...

But after that they could still make new Pokemon games using the hundreds of Pokemon they already have...

I want a few more (3-5) to iron out any rinkles, and then a VR MMORPG with many updates. My Gen 7 sarter would beat yours with one move.

I can see the Pokemon franchise going on for a while - look at how long the Mario and Zelda series have been going. However, eventually I would like Pokemon to go in a slightly different direction. I could also see each generation lasting longer, just as Mario games seem to be fewer and further apart (excluding spin-offs).

Though, looking into the future, I may not even end up playing the 5th gen, seeing as I've only barely touched the 4th due to other interests and generally moving on in life.

That's a good idea. Makes more sense than saturating our heads with ever-increasing Pokemon info.
Do we really need more than 4 generations? The only reason I even want a Gen. V is so I can get a Dragon eeveelution.

We shall continue to Gen. LXIV! Or at least to XXXV. XXVII? Ah screw it. Let's stop at Gen VI, or VII (for those who can't read that, it means 6 and 7, figure the above numbers out yourself)

44? But 59 lets you go to not only the whole Pokemon planet, but Clefairy, Dexoys and more's homeworlds.
