Out of curiosity, and because I plan on playing through OR/AS completely without looking at anything about them on the internet other than what I've already had spoiled, I was wondering just how many people play through pokemon games the first time blind.

One should always play through a game as blind as possible, absolutely. It's just ... not the same when you know about things in advance. (My case in point: I almost-successfully avoided the reveals of your Kalos starter evolutions, because I didn't want it to influence which one I picked at the start of the game.)

I voted kinda blind. I followed all of what was officially revealed, knew about all of the new Pokemon, and what routes the ones I wanted to catch were on. (Those are things I must be spoiled on as I always plan my entire team before getting the games) I also knew the gym leaders/E4 and their rosters. Not sure if I knew levels or things like that.

I did not spoil myself on any of the plot (including post-game story), the movesets of any new Pokemon, any anything else I haven't mentioned being spoiled on.

I honestly wanted to, but I looked stuff up on Bulbapedia as I went. Oh well, maybe for the games after ORAS.

I remember just looking up when Pokémon evolved and what their gender ratios were. I might have read some spoilers, but I honestly don't remember.

When I was a kid, I played through all of my games blind. But since last year, when I started to get more in to the fandom, I spoiled myself to everything during the XY release.

Can't say I was mad at myself, though.

Kinda blind. I knew of some of the new Pokemon, but that was pretty much it. They also didn't have very complete Bulbapedia pages, so it was hard to spoil much more than their appearances and names. Other than that, I knew nothing about the plot or anything else.

Most of the time, I didn't bother checking Bulbapedia very much. Especially story-wise I was mostly blind.

I did check evolution methods for most Pokemon, and also Pokemon located on routes that I just went through. I knew some of the new Pokemon, and a couple of those that underwent Fairy retcon - even then there were also a number of retcons that I only found out after using moves that were previously super-effective etc, like Snubbull. ("WTF? I thought Karate Chop was supereffective against Snubbull.")

Kinda blind. While I spoiled myself by looking up things like moves, stats, and where to obtain the Pokemon, I leave the plot largely untouched until I actually play. The new world-wide release bit does help, as in the past I would get very tempted to look up game walkthroughs like Platinum and such, since Japan always used to get it first. Now, since they're doing world-wide releases at the same time, it makes it easier to just play the game without getting totally spoiled. I do also get official guidebooks for the games, but, again usually to do things like Pokemon distribution, moves, item locations, and everything else of the sort. But, again, since I like to map out a team ahead of time, I spoil myself slightly so I can know where and when to get certain things/Pokemon, but the plot I don't touch until the game is in my hands.

Well, I saw the new Pokémon and maybe the characters, even the existance of Zygarde (predictable, there's always a third Pokémon). But even despite I wasn't prone to hide myself from spoilers, I played the game mostly blind (And took me A HELL of time reaching the second gym)

I played mostly blind. The only exception was when I couldn't figure out where to find the Team Flare hideout in Lumiose City in the lead-up to the Version Mascot battle.

With all the news coming through and through without end, I think, it is impossible to play the game blind. Especially if you are an information-hungry type of person.

Call me a bore, but I pretty much knew the game inside out by the time I started.

The internet just makes it too hard to go into these kinds of things blind. I feel like I'd have to remove myself from most of the internet to avoid 'spoilers'.

Nevertheless, I don't watch gameplay footage beyond what is released through official trailers, as I feel like that might take away from the freshness just a little bit too much for me.

I picked 'kind of blind'.

Before I played it, I looked up all of the new pokemon and mega evolutions, as well as some of the new features (like customization, type chart changes, pokemon amie, etc)

I intentionally avoided anything in relation to the plot, locations, characters, or in-game events and where certain pokemon were located. I think that provided for a better experience.

This is the first game I played blind in a while. Kalos was very confusing, even with the map. Took me forever to get to the second gym!

I wish I could of played it totally blind since I think a game is most fun when you have no idea what to expect. But unfortunately I got spoiled accidentally on a lot of thing from my friends and the internet.

I played XY mostly blind. Some of the stuff like character customization and the new starters I found out beforehand but other then that everything else was a surprise.
