I'm curious to see if anyone does what I do. I just train all of my favorite pokemon and most of them are of the same type (dragon). Yeah, Lance is my favorite so I train dragon types like him. My favorites that I have are

Piplup(my first pokemon)- hydro pump, surf, drill peck, dive
Haxorus- dragon pulse, dragon claw, strength, dragon dance
Dragonite-thunderbolt, flamethrower, outrage, waterfall
Hydreigon- outrage, dragon pulse, crunch, fly
Zekrom-zen headbutt, thunder, outrage, bolt strike
tyranitar- earthquake, dark pulse, stone edge, ice beam
Garchomp- draco meteor, earthquake, dragon rush, toxic

so how many of you do what I do?

I never have two pokémon of the same type in a team, I don't like to be unbalanced.

Well, like Alex, I try to keep my active team balance with different types, BUT I do tend to collect, train, and hold onto Grass and Electric types as they are my favorites

I always have fire and electric types on my team along with a Furret. Anything else, I don't really care for and just catch/train whatever.

I have a few roles that I usually fill:

Fire-type
Water-type
Psychic/Dark/Ghost-type
Electric-type
Rock/Steel/Ground-type
One of my choice.

I prefer using Fire,Bug and Ghost types, but I'll use anything if it's good unless it's Fighting or Poison type. I never use those.

I try to keep it balanced by not having more than one of the same type.
Although I will pretty much train anything that I find good enough.

I won't have more than one of the same type. That's about it. Otherwise I'll likely always have my Milotic and Togekiss in one of my teams and I will always have a Fire type. I also like to have a Dragon type and a Psychic type but they're not essential.

During normal runs, I try to use as many types as I can, but there are many times when I decide to play the game with just one type, or train a team of 3 of one type for the Subway.

I always try to stick to a Fire / Water / Grass core of 3.

Then I like to compliment it with a Normal type and two random others.

I usually choose at least one Ice-type though.

I tried training 6 Pokemon of the same Type but failed. Most cant cover each other's weaknesses.
I usually have 2 Fire, 1 Water, 1 Grass, and 1 Dragon or Ground

Most of the time, my team is composed of a Fire-type, a Water-type, a Grass-type, a Flying-type, and two others. For example, my team in White was Emboar, Seismitoad, Sawsbuck, Braviary, Beartic and Bisharp. I rarely use two Pokémon of the same type. Two of them were Normal-type, though.

I used to always train grass types, but I've come to train em all.

I always have a balanced team, and tend to train the pokemon people generally call crap, such as Bibarel, Mothim, stuff you don't normally get. I don't like having the same types either.

I always have a balanced team and I try to avoid having more then one of the same type unless they have a different secondary type. I do typically atleast the last few game playthroughs train a dragon pokemon, and I always have a water and flying on my team mainly for fly/surf purposes.

The types I normally use are:

Fire-type
Water-type
Grass-type
Electric-type
Flying-type
One of my choice.

The pokémon of those 5 main types normally have a secondary type which is not one of those types.

No matter what team I make it always ends up like this:
3 Pokemon that are really fast and 3 Pokemon that are really slow.

And I always put Scrafty on my team, because I truly think he's the most versatile Pokemon of all.

Anyone a type trainer?

I was wondering if anyone here is a type trainer, meaning water, fire, or dragon trainer, etc. Do you have problems with battling other people? I mostly use ice with some water because their my favorite and I'm usually able to do some damage. They balance each other well too. Ice is weak to fire, rock, steel and fighting- most of which water works well against. If you are a type trainer, what is your team?
