I would if I had the money. One of the most frustrating things being in this fandom is that the only way to get episodes of Pokemon is either buying the lesser quaility English versions or download the Japanese versions, a less than legal way. I just wish that Nintendo and/or whoever is in charge of distributing the Japanese versions will start releasing them soon.

(Please don't say that there are episodes on the Pikachu shorts DVDs, because that only accounts for six to seven episodes out of 500+ episodes)

On a separate note:
Would anyone know if an American can rent DVDs of the show? I heard that the episodes were availiable for rent. I know it sounds crazy, but I thought I should try.

I'd buy Japanese DVDs with english subtitles for the whole series, sure.

I would most definitely buy Japanese DVDs with English subtitles.

I most certainly would. In the meantime, I'm having to make do with what little they actually *have* released in Japan.

It does seem odd that Japan doesn't give this series a proper release, though. I mean, do they *really* think the sales will be so low that it's not worth the trouble?

I'd sure as heck! But only if it was A Pokemon DP boxset. I missed a lot of DP episodes due to me having to conserve harddrive space so I'd pay money to own Shinji's episodes.

Yes! I REQUIRE MY SATOSHI!

(I mostly only watch the dub, but from what I've seen of the raw, I like Satoshi better then Ash)

even if it didn't have subtitles, i'd snag myself some copies. ^^ Japan's dub of the show is amazing, and whenever i see it on youtube i enjoy the show even more than usual, even if i don't understand about...4/5 of the words? yeah, that's a safe bet...

but yeah, you know what would be awesome? some of the OLDER seasons in original Japanese w/ subtitles. i'd like that. ^^

"Japan's dub of the show"? o_O

Anyway, I'd love to buy Japanese Pokemon DVD's, but aren't Japanese DVD's in general kinda expensive?

I can't speak Japanese, and subtitles annoy me. I'm fine with just browsing through the screen shots on Serebii.

I haven't actually watched an epsidoe since 2004.

Man, the Pokemon series with subs would probably be kinda expensive to collect. With multiple tracks needed for raw and dub, even a 5 episode set can be like $30.00.

I'd spend a years worth of netflix rentals to see Japanese episodes w/ English subs. I think it's only considered a dub when it's voiced over in another language.

It'd be more like 13 episodes for $30.00.

And really, the only reason you would have to think that that was expensive is because you've been spoiled on the dirt-cheap sets that PUSA and Viz have been putting out.

Media Factory announced that 10 more DP DVDs will be for sale in July. That's 22/80 of DP so far.

Not quite.

The first batch (the "GET" series) only had eight discs. The upcoming second batch (the "BATTLE" series) will also only have eight discs. That's sixteen.

(You're probably thinking about the Kanto and Orange Islands releases, which actually did have ten discs apiece)

Then, you have the B Button League episode (packaged in with the third ANA short) and the Beadull episode (packaged in with the fourth ANA short). That brings us up to eighteen.

Then we'll have the two part Riolu/Pokemon Ranger episode coming out soon, bringing us to 20 episodes total.
